I found this beaver tree far back in the bush.The tree is in one piece. I have showed it to many people. Some who have lived in the area and hiked the bush for decades and none of them have seen anything like it.
We have it in storage in the cabin loft. Not sure how to display it. I am open to suggestions.

maybe a BEAVER/Boxer mix
I would put it in corner of my camp....I made a towel rack out of beaver chewed sticks...they chewed the bartk off, and the ends are chewed off looks really nice...I think you found a really neat piece....

That's pretty awesome, do you have any other pics of it!?
It looks like the beavers were trying to make a large tree-sized drill bit.

thats so odd.maybe certain parts are hard ...or u have an ocd beaver.really pretty cool and funny.i like the idea of keeping it.i surely wood.

Thanks you know I am a Beaver expert per say!!!!!!
use to trap them for work year's ago / and have to give "Beaver expert testimony" in law suits/litigations etc ..... when they were causing damage or had caused damage.
PS--very cool piece of beaver chew and keep it inside to preserve it...I love stuff like this!!!

That is the oddest thing I have seen for a beaver chew!! Well you have to do something with it that is for sure. I like the totem pole idea, but as turkeyhunter suggested, keep it indoors to preserve it!

I would let the wood dry and season, just as it is on the board in the picture. Then polyurethane the whole thing and display it as a totem pole. I would preferably put it on an inside display.

That's really cool and I love that you want to display it in some unique we. We have lots of unique natural stuff hanging on walls or on shelves that we have found on the property over the years. It really helps to make your place unique!

The beaver were very active around the cabin last summer. They were coming out when we were around cutting down the popular trees. One dragged a tree not 25 feet in front of me.
When I was in the lake two came out of the bush and started swimming toward me. I slapped the water with my hand as a warning. That sent them in the opposite direction.
Now we don't mind them cutting the popular. The trees are junk trees to us. We don't worry about trees falling on the cabin since we have cleaned out the area around the cabin. The trees are to far to fall on the roof. There is a swamp on our property. It is full of life. The beavers are helping to keep it that way. I leave the wildlife on our property alone to do their thing, since they have from the beginning of time.

I've been collecting what I call "Beaver Sculptures" for some time. The sculptures result when snow gets deeper as the beaver chews a tree down - he finds it easier to make a new cut above the lower one than to clear the snow away and continue lower down. Once in a while, the art originates due to another tree too close to the first one at the lower cut, and the beaver has to cut higher to get all the way around.
I think the multiple cuts along the length of a log occurs when the log is frozen into the ground so the beaver can't chew all the way around. Perhaps they have evolved a desire to chew all sides for a complete cut, (even on a downed log) to minimize the danger of being crushed (by an upright tree) if they chewed just one side, since it would be most likely to fall toward the cut.
Anyone have more theories?

Theory 1- the beavers are bored.
Theory 2- they are hungry.
Theory 3- they're stupid.
Theory 4- they're smarter than us and have their own reasons.
Theory 5- they're capricious and like to chew wood.
Theory 6- they are intentionally deceiving us and laughing all the way to the creek
Theory 7- their incisor teeth grow continuously and if not trimmed will get too long. That's true of rats too, which is probably why a rat or mouse chewed up my tool belt, and chewed on the bottom of a wood folding chair leg, so now the chair wobbles.

i collect them, too.
Am thinking about sneaking into a nearby railtrail and painting certain chewed up stumps to look like #2 pencils.
