I need some avise on this product. They claim this will last 35 to 40 years before I would have to paint. I'm looking at a shed that will be hauled in and set up with a high grade of paint. Will this product last from rot and and weather? If I have it all tinned it would be about 700 bucks more. What is your thoughts?

If its from LP I would give it a thumbs up....so far. I am using their lap siding product on my house and its held up very well.

I have some scrap thats been sitting outside with the back exposed to rain etc, and it still looks good as new. Others have reported sticking it in a bucket of water for weeks and it held up.

I like the metal...because it lasts
I built my pole barn over 10 years ago....white metal roof /white vinyl windows / red metals sides-- O maintenance !!!!!
it has a breezeway between the 2 enclosed bays...I used the plywood type T1-11 ...it get the blowing rain sometimes in the breezeway...it unpainted and has held up GREAT!!!!....I never painted it....just wanted it to weather like a barn should be..

t1-11 will rot. if you are going to use i would use a oil base primer on it all over front, back and sides put 2 coats on it. then use a latex exterior paint for top coat. i am a painter by trade

I agree that t1-11 will rot, but my (painted) shed siding held up for nearly 25 years before beginning to rot, and this was only the part that was in contact with the ground and also exposed to a lot of water over those years. Overall it is a very good product IMO. I have a new shed sided with smartside and I am very happy with the performance.
BTW, I cleaned up the old t1-11 and moved that shed up to my cabin a few years ago and it still looks great.

Thanks and that is what I was looking for. If painted the right way and keep out of the dirt it should last. Thanks.
