Building a new cabin in western Missouri. It's a 12 X 19 with a 5 foot deck. I will be putting a roof over the deck and I will install a loft at around 7 feet. I'm going to have a small bathroom 4x4 inside, but no running water. I will most likely use a portable toilet with a vent. I'm planning to wire it for a generator since electric is 1/8 mile away. The high side wall is 12.5 feet and low side 10.5, so I will have plently of head room for the loft. I also plan on installing a wood stove for heat. The roof shingles will be going on this week. I will send more pictures with the progress.

Nice work, Did you or are you planning on insulating the floor?
I notice the pier blocks under your porch, what did you do under the cabin?
Thanks for sharing, I look forward to watching your progress, your cabin is about the same size I will be building soon.

I used 9 pier blocks to support the structure then I added 6 aditional 4x4 post dug to 24" and poured concrete for a total of 15 support posts. Right now I am not planning to insulate the floor, but If I need to I can still get under it to do it. It does not usually get that cold here in Missouri.

tried the generator thing..that only lasted one weekend. the generator is a honda eb3500, a quieter one than most, but still the hum would drown out the sounds of nature. so i installed a 5Kva transformer to a nearby powerline. a summers worth of use only cost me $22, much less than gasoline. if power is within reach, go for it!

Very nice keastvol! Lovin' the porch as well as the gobbler. We usually try to go to Mo every year during the spring turkey season. You guys truly have a hunter's paradise there. Keep the pics coming.

Very very nicely done.
Really like the pine trim, and the utility tub on the end of the drain board is a nice touch.

Having issues with the heat in the loft. I was wondering if I could install a powered roof vent for attics and pull the hot air out of the cabin. It would work similar to a whole house attic fan. Any ideas?

@keastvol,... I'm in the planning process for my own cabin, and I plan to include some form of powered attic/roof fan in my design. This past July I rented a cottage in Maine. Even during the mild days, which rarely reached 80 degrees, the loft area was too warm for comfort in the late afternoon/evening. The owners had a fan in a loft window however, adn I learned that when you opened the first floor windows and fired up that fan it cooled off nicely. And this was a nice size cottage, at probably 32x48-ish. So if it worked on a place that big, just about anything that moves a decent volume of air (maybe bigger than a bathroom fan) would work also. And a fan on the roof would be better than in a window (not so many concerns about leaving a window open on rainy nights). My $.02.

Updates to the cabin. I added a 10x10 addition and built a shed. I also enclosed the posts with 2x6 deck boards to keep the rabbits out. They were chewing on my foundation posts

Nice Cabin! You wouldn't happen to have anymore pics of your coat rack next to the loft stairs would you? I am building one for my buddies cabin that we are building and looking for more ideas. By the way nice Z7, I have the extreme and love it. Brian
