Sounds like a great theme for a country and western song!

I was mentioning the same thing to my wife yesterday morning after coming in from feeding the horses, chopping some wood and going over to jump start my neighbor (only one of our vehicles would start). It was a balmy -14F at the time.

Yeah, I did metal help too. My diesel gelled up last Tues and there's a chance that I might get it started today. for what?, it's going to be 24 below tonight and for several days daytime highs 10 to 15 below, it'll just get screwed up again. I've always been fine with diesels, but I think I'll go gas now. Poor fuel now-a-days.

Here in the Pacific Northwest it looked like winter would be long and hard but that hasn't happened especially with the Mountain Snow Pack being a whopping 9.7% of what it should be or the fifth driest winter on record....may be a dry summer coming.

We drove south for the holidays (Edmonton AB is south for us). The thermometer in the van wouldn't read for the first four hours because it was below -40. Then it slowly started working as it warmed up once we turned southward. Good thing I put a cardboard winter front on.... I still cringed with every pothole waiting for something to break....once it gets below -35 everything gets so fragile. Made it though.

We spent part of the day getting ready for the 5 - 10 inches they are now saying we will get.

Got the porch piled with wood, water tanks full, plenty of marshmallows, graham crackers & chocolate bars and liquid electricity.

Not too worried about the snow...it's those -30 degree wind chills I ain't looking forward to.

We are suppose to get 2" or so, but we that will be on top of the 6 we had a few days ago. Minus 12 for Sunday and Monday nights with 25 mph winds...BRRRRRRRRRR
I will be on water pipe watch at work the next couple nights.

Ready for spring!!

Troll nice to hear from ya.

I got my truck started today. Fuel treatment, torpedo heater and a big tarp with all the sides piled with hay bales. I ran it for an hour then shut it down until Thursday's warm up. It should break 0 deg f. then.

they are calling for colder than -30 air temp here in the Twin Cities tonight. I feel for my friends up north, -50 or worse is not out of the question. Stay bundled up and warm everyone it will be dangerous out there.

High temps for next weekend are supposed to be in the upper 20's or low 30's. Crazy swing.

We are parked until it is all cleaned up. The cowboy or cowgirl truck drivers will keep going. All the truck parking spaces are taken. Now the poor drivers that need to park will be blocking us in. We would not be able to leave even if we wanted to and we don't.

It was 60 deg here in SE Virginia today. Sure glad we haven't had to deal with the paralyzing cold you folks up north have to deal with.

They are saying the coldest weather in 20 years here in Missouri. Supposed to be -10 tonight. Not sure my electric heater would keep up at the cabin. Kind of glad I am home.

Really...it was -13 this am when we got up. Wind chill was -25. The heat wave came in at 3pm today and warmed us up to a balmy 7 degrees.

Not sure exactly what temp crosses the "don't care if you leave your water running it is gonna freeze anyway" line but it was crossed last night. Hopefully it will thaw out tomorrow when we get back above 32.

Fortunately there is plenty of snow to melt for dishes, flushing, etc.

My wife and I love the winter! We are Canadian so we embrace it! We just spent an awesome weekend at the cabin which is about an hour northeast of Belleville, Ontario. We hit -28 C on the way up Friday morning. When we got to the cabin it was -25 and -18 C inside. Took most of the day to get the log cabin warmed up but it sure got cozy inside by bedtime. We did some cross country skiing and brought the snow shoes but ran out of time to get out on them. I've attached a few photos of our weekend. We can't wait to get up again in the winter.

Once we got it warmed up inside I was able to turn the water on. I have a water tank in a crawl space that does not freeze. I use a 12v shurflo pump for my water system. On Sunday before we left I quickly blew the water lines out again using my compressor plugged into the generator and this fitting screwed onto the kitchen sink.

I so agree on the bath for the dogs, lol. My lab is warm and cozy inside but sure stinks. Here in central KY is -2 right now who knows how low it is going. They said we'd get snow but were wrong, just an inch. I'm really unhappy about the snow as I was looking forward to some yummy snow cream.
