Really beautiful cabin, I am impressed.

I didn't know of the Polish log building tradition, but I can tell you that it looks a lot like a cabin we would find here in Canada - all except for the chinking, that technique is new to me.

I have an uncle who has built two log homes in a similar way - felling trees on site, stripping them by hand, hand fitting each individual log...I find the whole thing quite amazing really.

He's 75 now and won't be building any more log cabins, but we are fortunate that he's actually helping us build a little bunkie as we speak.

Congratulations, you should be very proud of what you've built.

Hi all we have been having a beautiful summer here, with lots of time spent at the cabin. Our big news is that our cabin is going to be filmed for TV. There is a Channel 4 programme called 'George Clarke's Amazing Spaces' which is a popular programme on unusual small builds. http://www.channel4.com/programmes/george-clarkes-amazing-spaces/episode-guide I don't know whether you can view this outside the UK but I'll let you know when we're on.

It's on "Cottage Life TV" here in Canada. Great show too.

Just thought I'd revive this old thread because I enjoyed it so much, and hope that Sarahax is still around to give us an update.

Also note that Sarahax posted a YouTube video of the Polish builders making traditional chinking out of bark shavings- a unique solution to the common problem of all log construction.

What a beautiful cabin! And such lush, green surroundings. England is so lovely!
