I went to the cabin today and did a little work and thought it would be a good day to do a little fishing. I usually catch some smaller cats or walleye but today I catch some pretty good one for here. 5 fish with a total of 36 pounds. I lost two big boys at shore and that was fine I got my share.

red suckers are running

the red horse suckers run here in the small creeks when the dogwoods bloom...which was in early April....

they put up a good fight on a cane pole...or graphite crappie pole

A sucker is a sucker I guess , Grand kids like to catch them . Crappies will be next here , now they are tasty .

My grandmother used to can suckers in the spring. Fillet or scale and chunk them. pack them in jars. salt and vinegar. Cook them in a water bath. The vinegar softens the bones This was our salmon substitute. They were good. There are recipies for doing them on line. I am not a great cook , good at eating though. old243

Not in Virginia if that's where you are thinking. It is the Yellowstone.
