hey fellas, this is a perdy neat place. lots of good info and ideas.
fun seeing how others built their shacks.
i built ours 3 years ago . its only 14x14 but just enough for the wife and i. don't have start to finish pics, only some finished ones.
42" off the ground and fully insulated. the little wood stove keeps it nice and toasty.
exterior is all 1x8x3/4 cedar fence boards. was quite bright when new but is now starting to fade abit for a nice rustic look.
have a 1/4 acre white clover field 20 yards off the deck. fun watching deer/turkeys and other critters feeding.

it looks good with age..!!!

I bet your turkey/deer/small game population is a lot better....after removing the PREDATORS.

Where are you located? I really like your cabin and the materials you used. Was there a particular reason you built it so high off the ground? I like the looks of it that way but was just wondering.

How long did it take you to "gather" that many coyotes and what caliber did you use? I just heard my first coyote on our property this past Saturday night and we have been staying up there for over three years.

thanks old buddy. this is in NW MN near a river. the all time high water level would be up about 6" from the ground so i decided to give it extra leeway. plus, i just think its kinda kool up high.
i can park the snowmobile,4wheeler,riding lawn mower and log splitter under it. post are all set 4' in concrete. very stable plus i x braced it.
coyotes are a passion of mine. i only got 65 this year down for a high of 164 3 years ago. our deer herd is struggeling now so everyone killed helps out.
oh yeah. i shoot a custom built 17-204. really knocks the snot out of them

that is one caliber I do not have...thought about a 204 barrel for my Thompson Center~~ pro hunter --I use a 22-250 barrel on it for yotes and other varmints.

I did not realize you were here in MN. I'm in Duluth, but my son lives in Thief River. I just sold him my 243 wssm in a Model 70. That's what he bought it for, Yotes.

ah yes. i've shot piles of coyotes with both 22-250 and 243 but now i save/sell the pelts so needed something a bit more friendly.

Owen, we bear hunt near TRF every year.
