I am going to stretch the boundaries of "small cabin" because our LNP project consists of both a small and a larger structure. In order for my wife and I to create our small slice of natural nirvana, we had to start small; a 10 x 12 structure we call the Love Nest.

The rest has been, and continues to be, an all-consuming commitment and labor of love. The LNP website is sorely behind for updates, particularly since we are actually painting walls on the larger structure, but there is mucho fodder for anyone interested in developing recreational property and building stuff on it.

I enjoyed looking at your stream of photos. Looks like it works pretty good for you....or at least for now, anyways.

What are you building presently (type and size)? We had our 12X16 for one year and realized that we needed another "bunk" room so we just added a second 8X16 room and what a difference it has made. We could sleep six comfortably, without using the loft. The lost is 8X12 I think but you can't sleep up there in the winter....wat too hot!

Please keep us updated. Where are you located?

Hey OOB...
If you get into the body of the LNP website, the Garage-Apartment tab will take you to our current DIY project. It is on a 28 x 44 slab with concrete stem walls/footing. My wife and I built the entire shootin' match by ourselves, one nail at a time. We also did much of the concrete work, though we hired on a couple of guns to keep us in the game.

We are in the midwest US.

Sounds like you're going to have yourself a pretty good sized cabin when you're finished. Nothing wrong with the Mrs. helping you out

It has been nearly two years since my son (Old Buddy) and I have done any actual construction, only because his days off and my days off were always different. Within the next few weeks he'll be getting every other week-end off and that will work pretty well with my week-ends off.

Maybe this year we'll build off the opposite site of the cabin with a big covered porch for a shooting bench. We both enjoy shooting long distances with our rifles. Our next target will probably be about 300 yards from the cabin. I really enjoy that.....and loading the rounds myself.

Good luck with your build. Old Old Buddy
