Quoting: Kudzu

Move to Alabama, lots of cheap land and very few if any permits.

Thanks Kudzu. I was just going to say the same thing. My wife and I are going to put our cabin on family land, and as far as the county, or state gov is concerned nobody cares. No gotta have this or must do that. Nobody is going to need or want to come out and inspect anything.

I've done a lot of research on Alaska and its true you can find affordable land, however everything else is expensive there. If you can find a place where wild game is plentiful you can attain your own meat. However, even in places like Tanana game is not as plentiful as it once was. Short of game, the lower 48 may be more cost effective. Eastern Oregon has some super cheap land. There is some game out there. If you have reliable water, it is viable. Montana and Alaska are more scenic for sure. Utah is pretty but the rec land is pretty high priced and they seem restrictive.
