I need to replace my outhouse, it's literally falling down. I can get my hands on a porta-john very cheap. My question is, do any of you use one of these for an outhouse? If so, did you dig a pit and cut a hole in the bottom? How did you set it up? Thanks

Take a 55 gallon plastic drum and bury it in the ground beneath the porta John. This contains the waste

I bought a brand new porta poddy and it works great. Has the urinal, toilet, paper dispenser, vent stack, screened vents, door, lock, white roof for light.

Mine is the Tufway 150 from satellite industries.

Cost was $695 put together, got it in all green.

You can cut the tank out of keep it in place and have it pumped, bld insp mentioned a great idea to increase its capacity.

I lagged mine down to large skids (8X8 wolmanized) and extended it out the front for a little porch. Keeps in anchored to the ground too.
