Here are pix of a post and beam studios for my wife. I am starting another construction project along the same lines for a cabin in my woods.

The about 15x8 feet. It was based off 4 x 6 rough cut beams from our local sawmill. Most of my wood comes from the sawmill now; the sawmill guys told me that they sell their junk grade (industrial grade) wood to a local Big Bix store when doubles or triples the price and grades it higher. To heck with that; I buy right from the source.

The studio rest on concrete blocks which was a mistake. Over that 2 X 10 pressure treated for the floor joist. After that it is all sawmill wood.

Attached are some pix. The skylights are cute but too small and a pain to install. The faceted door are (as it turned out alas) junk from Home Depot but they looked great for awhile.

The end result was very satisfying I think. The studio is very bright and has a lot of character.

I did not buy and plans just the back of cocktail napkin and we made up the rest as we went along. The roof is a fancy grade waterseal with asphalt shingles. I have had trouble with cedar shingles on raw slats in previous sheds.
