Anyone who has been on this forum for awhile will know I am a bit OCD when it comes to heart health - Bob had a cardiac arrest in our driveway in 2011 and was saved by our home defibrillator and some pretty amazing neighbours. There is something that everyone should be carrying at all times and that is chewable, low dose aspirin. If you suspect you (or someone you are with) is having a heart attack they could save a life. After calling 911, chew 2 aspirin.

The problem is how to carry them. Bob came up with a genius idea. He now has hearing aids and is always changing batteries. He realized the empty battery container is the PERFECT size to hold 6 chewable aspirin. I am attaching a photo so you can see what I mean.

These containers are slim and can fit easily into any wallet. So if you use hearing aids, or know someone who does, don't throw away the empty battery containers. Use them to hold life saving, chewable aspirin.

In the photo from L to R: the hearing aid battery case with batteries, the case with 6 chewable aspirin, the back of the package is labelled with the expiry date of the aspirin, the bottle of aspirin is in the back of the photo.

The life you save could be YOURS!

Yep that is a very wise and thanks for sharing. I do a lot of backcountry hiking and I have baby aspirin in every vest back pack I own. I always take one before every hike. I have never had any heart problems but my parents have in their older age. I have thought about this a lot being in remote areas. If I wouldn't make it out it would be a long time till they found me. LOL Very good advise Hattie.

That is a great idea. Just make sure to rotate them out periodically, especially if you carry them in your pocket.

I had a heart attack 2 years ago. I now take a low dose aspirin daily as well as a couple of other heart and blood pressure drugs. That was the first thing that the responders gave me was 2 aspirins, on the way to the hospital.
I think an aspirin a day would likely be a good thing for most middle and older age people. Good idea hattie, I also have these battery packs.. Have a merry Christmas and a happy and healthy new year. old243

Consult with your physician before starting an aspirin regimen though. There are other health considerations to taking aspirin every day. I've been on a daily high dose enteric aspirin for years and my new doc immediately reduced me to low dose. Took forever for my blood to clot when I cut myself.

Merry Christmas to everyone!

How old was Bob? Doddering in his dotage or a young thruster on the up and up?
