I've read threads about different ways to heat water. Anyone have thoughts or an idea about how a turkey fryer could work? 30 quart pot, which is 5 gallons right. Efficient or not so much.

They work awesome... be careful, heats up pretty quick. We get 3 long showers out of one pot. The coffee can us for getting the water out if the pot into the 5gal shower bucket. Funny part is I got the turkey fryer 5 years ago and sat in a box until this summer. At least it's finally getting used.

When you are not heating water you make deep fried turkey! Delicious! We also use our for corn roasts. You can fit a lot of cobs in one!

I heat water on the turkey fryer for my showers. A couple of gallons of water will be plenty hot in 10 minutes or so. From there a hose goes into my pot and is pumped with a small transfer pump to a kitchen sink spray nozzle for my shower head. Simple but works well. The turkey fryer works great....just be safe

Apologize for not the best picture...only one I could find at the moment.

This is very intriguing as I have not been impressed with the options out there for hot water.

For my fellow Canucks, Canadian Tire has a 36 quart version for $89.99. I added it to my sale alerts

You gotta love those sale alerts from CTC! Even better when you have a stash of Canadian tire money saved up!

I did use a coleman on demand for years when I was camping and it worked great. I think they have discontinued the product. Mine would no longer fire and determined it was a water flow sensor that I was able to order through amazon and it works like new again. But before fixing it, I took the pump from it and the 6 volt battery and made a switch for it. I hooked the hose and shower head directly to the pump I then heated water and filled a 5 gallon pail, dropped the pump in and away I went. Worked great.

I built an outdoor shower and bought a used turkey fryer for 20 bucks and it works great! I can heat up six gallons of water to shower temperature in about 8 minutes. I bought a nice little Zodi Outback Gear Battery Powered Shower on amazon and it works great too.

I used my turkey fryer to warm our swimming pool. I bought a 50' roll of 3/8'' copper and spread it apart from top to bottom of a metal 5 gal. pail , with one end out through a hole in the bottom and the other out the top. Then I put flared fitting and adapters to garden hose fittings. one end female the other male. Then a simmer pump from the hardware store. This set on the turkey fryer upside down. It took about a day to bring the pool to warm from cold, about 3,300 gal. I guess it would work great for a shower, but I think to be safe, I'd warm a tankful, so you could monitor the temp. before you got under the hot water.
