In the last month or so I've started seeing these dirt mounds pop up all over. I'm really not sure what they are. The first thing I thought was that they were ant mounds, but I haven't seen any signs of ants around them. The one in the picture below is one of the larger ones. The dirt just below the surface is a little moist, but not soaking wet. Any ideas what these mounds could be? This is located in central Minnesota.

They're probably from a ground squirrel.

Pocket gophers, If you watch a new mound you can see them throwing out dirt to make the mound. The one pictured is an older mound where the hole has collapsed.

Looks like Pocket gophers where I live in the front range of Colorado.
Mouse traps with watermelon or anything 'wet' will get em' this time of year. Place the traps near an active hole or trail.
they will undermine the roots of your trees if you let them persist.

Definitely pocket gophers - I had some at my last house and we were able to trap them easily. They can create a lot of hell with their tunnels when the tunnels start collapsing, etc...

I'm with Neb on this.
I think they're moles.
Hope I'm wrong.
Tough to get rid of.

Yes they are! My mother had them I her yard and I found an old boy that lived in the same village as my mother. Someone told me he could get rid of them and he did. He set a few traps and wit in days he had it solved. Before that I tried everything with no results but bad. He know how to trap them it didn't work for me. Good luck.

I had something digging in my lawn, my neighbour told me the damage was caused by skunks digging for grubs.

If they are moles, you have to dig into there tunnel place a trap, cover with wood then soil. if they see any light in the tunnel they will not pass over the trap. wait a couple day, then dig up your trap. I have caught moles like this many time.
