Twas one of the coldest nights I can remember last January when I opened the door and my cat flew out between my feet and stood in the driveway looking like, "Something aint right."

I yelled, Poncho you fool, get back in here. He looked at me, went Meow and bounced off thru the snow headed towards the neighbors barn.

I ran out trying to catch him but when he made it to the barn I just figured he'd either freeze to death or find a warm place till tomorrow when he figured out the mistake he made and come back home.

6 months later still no sign of Poncho. Figured an owl or hawk or fox got him. Spring and summer went by and I got another cat, "Fizz" and now have had her for about 4 months.

So last night I let the dogs out to do their thing before bedtime and my Dog Hannah starts woofing the way she always does when she wants in.

SO I open the door and theres my two dogs, Hannah and Hayden and guess who standing beside them? Right! Ponch.
I cant believe it. I was like, Poooonchooooo? You gotta be kidding me.

10 months gone now back and acting like he just stepped out for a breath of fresh air.

That's crazy! Cats are pretty resilient but I would not have bet on those odds.

Ole Poncho was always an outdoor cat. Sometimes he would be gone for 2-3 weeks at a time but would always come back.

Once he came back with his shoulder cut wide open. I mean, a 3 inch long and 1/2" deep cut. Soon as I seen it I said, "Man, you aint going to make it."

So I grabbed him and put some antibiotic paste on the cut and started to wrap a clean t-shirt around his shoulder.

But before I could finish he jumped out of my arms and the last sight of him was watching him run across the road with a nice white t-shirt dragging behind him.

three weeks later he came home and the cut was almost completely healed. (no t-shirt)

Dang!

I wonder if hes cheating on you with another family??
Life gets a little dull for him at your house and he meanders down the road to his "other" family ?

Yup, nine lives.

Next month, back to the first 'family'

Poncho is certainly a character... It is extremely interesting how humans actually "believe" they own a cat, when it's the cat who decides what humans can care for it... I've been owned by several felines but I finally figured it out... Smart little blighters

Someone once told me. "dogs have owners, cats have staff."

Indeed but my last Siberian Husky might not agree with that statement, she was the Queen of Pupper-toes !
