Well It is official now and my last day will be February 26th 2016. I would of liked to exit in January but it worked to be in February. I'm very excited and the 3 month's left will be hard. After 35 years n the same place it is time for some new scenery and a new journey.

Enjoy the three months, neb.
Savor them.

cuz after that

You'll be on the other side

You won't believe what we've got over here.
Nobody told me, and I won't tell you.

but

I expect your findings will appear here

enjoy

Great advise! I don't want to wish my life away so yes take each day and savor is right. My job has a lot of stress built in to it. Lol No mistakes can be made and with time lines and scheduling I already feel the relief. Lol

I will be spending more time at the cabin I do know that.

Congrats neb, now you can start living life for yourself more or less on your terms for a change. That 3 months, will in one way seem to be taking forever and in another, it will pass in a blink... So what plans do you have for your Alarm Clock ? A memorial to the past ? A symbol of servitude to be discarded ?

that's good...I remember my 1st day of retirement ...I got up at usual time...wife went to work...I went to run errands/post office and grocery...and I was all done for the day and it was 9:30am...scared the hell out of me...lol....then I found out you can pace yourself...and you are in no hurry anymore...just remember to throw your alarm clock away...I did ---I have not set one in over 6 years....I do her my
wife's clock go off on her side of the bed...I usually roll over and go back to sleep. LOL
PS~~I take a nap some afternoon's if I am tired...which is awesome... u will have to try them.

I retired in 1998, at 58 , can't believe it that long. You have to sometimes check the calendar, to see what day it is. Most times it doesn't matter. We do quite a bit of camping over the summer months, the fall is the time I enjoy as it is hunting seasons. Bird, moose and deer. My advice to anyone retiring, do the things you have always wanted to, visit those places that you have never had time to go to, while you are young enough and have good health, as you get older you might still want to go, but don't feel you are able. Enjoy your free time and cabin. Congratulations , old243

Just gotta chime in with my congratulations and +1 to comments above.
I owned my business since 1987 and after I sold it and got thru the owner transition I haven't looked back.

An old customer called me at my camp (on my personal number) last summer and said she lost her contact info for the business and could I give it to her again.

No problem! the "800" number is...

...is

...is

total brain freeze!

After a minute it came back to me and I obliged.

At that point I realized how totally immersed I am in retirement!

Congrats and good luck. My wife and I are heading down to NW Arkansas to look at buying a retirement/lake home in two weeks. Hard to believe that day will be coming soon, but I'm 48 already. Buying it will make it real.

Woohoo!!!!! It WOULD have to be a leap year, wouldn't it, LOL? My mum had an aunt who lived to be 104. Theories abounded as to why she achieved such longevity because our family typically doesn't. One was that she wasn't married, one was that she was ornery as all get out, and one was the fact that she was born on Feb. 29 and didn't have a birthday every year!

SOOOOO, may the fact that the anniversary of your retirement falls on Feb. 29 mean that you will have MANY EXTRA YEARS to enjoy your freedom!!!

Congratulations!

Hey neb

They did it up pretty big at my retirement party.
It was a great time, but the main thing that sticks out in my mind was they retired my keyboard too.
They made it one of my 'gifts'.
It was somewhat legendary around the shop in regard to the crumbs of food I always had on it (worked thru lunch most days). It got so bad at times, when I was out of the office, someone would sneak in and clean it.

Here's a pic from the party after they got thru 'dressing' it up;

The larger pieces are not mine (probably).

Anyway, the point; we'll need pics of yer send off.

It's a grand feeling yer having right now.

So happy for you, ol' sod.

Keep a fire

HI Neb!
I will be retiring on June 9, 2016. I retired the first time in 2005, but wasn't ready. I think I'm ready this time, but I still have mixed feeling since my second career in teaching is very rewarding and I know I will miss it. I'm 68.

I have so much I want to do and I'm afraid I will be napping and procrastinating more than I do now. I hope I'm wrong.

Congratulations on your decision. I hope it works out for both of us.

Gary O >>> LOL! Now that is funny! They want a party and talked to me about it. I don't want to be a party pooper but I told them I don't want one. I did hear from a few guys that I will have one and things are planned so we will see. They will have to get me there first. Lol Thanks Gary O

rmak >>> I wish you the best also. I keep telling myself I can't buy back time. I have so many outdoor activities I like to do I'm afraid I won't get them all done. Lol

I'm 58 and will do some ranching part time.
