I actually did buy the new Ram 2500 in crew cab, long bed, Cummins diesel, 4WD with the manual 6 speed transmission. Gets 18.6 highway.
Sold both Chevrolets a little later on.

I had 2 of those, a 1973 CT90 in Mars Orange and a 1978 in yellow with black trim. I restored the yellow one, it was rough when I bought it. This is what it looked like after resto.
And the Tacoma I sold, only 60K miles, $13,500!
Tacomas in 4WD go for $5-$6K over blue book all day long! Its nuts. But I was OK with it.

My family cabin vehicle is the family minivan, omnipresent Honda Odyssey... Canoe rack on top has held lumber, rain barrels, etc. Can fit 3 kids and loads of gear inside where it is dry (though my youngest isn't always dry).
Already planning my load for next trip. Some roofing, outdoor furniture, lumber. Will it all fit? Stay tuned.

I bought a 05 subaru forester for our property. Does awesome, the AWD crawls up our washed out rocky "road" real well.

I have my 1948 GMC 1.5 ton truck for hauling hay; the 2010 Ford Explorer for getting around in the snow; the 2007 Ford Ranger for hauling building materials; the 1969 Plymouth Barracuda convertible for fun; and the 1954 BSA Bantam for running to the mailbox.

Use a Jeep Wrangler with 3.5 inch lift and 35 inch wheels. Also have an Artic Cat ATV and Artic Cat Snowmobile

1999 Suzuki Grand Vitara, five-speed, 4WD. I'd say I'd be taking my 2010 Honda Fury, too, but not sure how it'd do on gravel roads.....

My property runs alongside a maintained dirt road but I do not plan on putting in a road from that to the cabin for a bit. There is access around the back way, its a little bumpy.
I have a 98 Jeep Wrangler, still going strong!!! Its pretty tricked out ( lift, mud tires, back seat removed tool box in place, etc, etc ) and DIRTY!!!!

I often take my work truck and in the last couple years, my wife also drives our car with the grandkids. That should be coming to an end now, as I bought a diesel Excursion which can pull a big trailer and haul everyone. Now I'd like a trailer that can haul the tractor and the old Bronco at the same time.

A Chevy Silverado 4x4 to get down about a mile of rocky road that cars could navigate slowly. Then load everything into a small boat at a creek to drive out into a lake and to our property. Then lug everything out of the boat to the cabin. Reverse the above to leave.

I use my 2003 Suzuki XL7 4x4. This thing does amazingly well going through just about anything and gets good mpg. If it has a downfall, it is that it doesnt have the best ground clearance.
