Anyone had any luck finding LED table or room sized lamps? We have some under cabinet lights from Costco that run forever on AA batteries, I'm looking for the same long use time in something that would light up a small room and not go through batteries too fast.....Searched online with no luck, I know someone here has the answer

It's funny you should ask this right now as I have two project lights partially completed. Well, mostly incomplete. I have all the hardware, LED's, drivers, etc, but have some other projects pop up and take priority. One is a Dietz kerosene lantern conversion and the other a 7 brightness level table lamp. Both will operate on 18650 Li-ion cells. Rechargables. It might be spring before I get back to them.
But..., how about an LED camping lantern? There are many around; many are cheap crap though. Fenix makes one. Fenix makes quality flashlights so this is probably well made. Operates on a single 18650 rechargeable lithium cell. Built in charger using a micro-USB charging cable. Can be used on medium or low output while being charged so that should mean you can power it on those settings from one of the Li-ion power packs sold for charging phones, etc. Some of those have very large capacity battery packs. IMO, rechargable would be nice; gets you away from buying disposable batteries.
Another option, and one I have used, is to have an LED flashlight that can tailstand (stand on the tail end with the light emitting end pointing up). I have one of these, but in grey and modified. That works well enough with a white ceiling. Same guy will custom build flashlights. These also operate on Li-ion cells, usually a single 18650.
Adding a diffuser can help spread the light around too, although sometimes the diffuser brightness is hard on the eyes, like a unshaded bright light bulb.
PS, if you or anyone buys a light that uses these Li-ion cells do not buy any of the cheap Chises cells. Many of those are pure crap, some even dangerous to use. These are the same type of cells that are used in those self igniting cheap hoverboards. I've had several quality Li-ion cells for a year or so and have had no issues.

Thanks guys, good ideas all. I already use Makita flashlights with the 18v tool batteries, they can stand up or adjust to any angle. However I am looking right now for a brighter light that looks like a regular light you would use at home..reason is I an going to be out at the cabin for a more extended period and want to make it feel more homey, not a flashlight/camping/roughing it kinda look.....I wouldn't even mind using disposable batteries (for now) just to get that look/feel.

Are you committed to table lamps? If not, have you considered LED strip lights? You can get a 5M (16 foot) warm white LED strip and a wireless remote/dimmer for around eleven bucks on eBay. I've been playing around with these:

For my new build, I'm planning to run a couple of these around the ceiling. I've got some old motorcycle batteries to power them. I figure that's going to be cheaper and easier than running 12-volt wiring for table lamps. I can get 10 hours out of a strip at 100% brightness before the battery drops to 12.3 volts, which is the arbitrary limit I've decided on before recharging these old motorcycle batteries.

Borrego,You got me wondering about this so I did a little research and found this floor lamp on Amazon. It is the Daylight 24 model#402051-07. It has 30 LED lights and a dimmer. It uses 4 D batteries that will run 33 hours. The reviews are pretty good. I put one of them in my Wish List for the cabin.

I've been quite pleased with it. It's light weight and it's also great for outside of the cabin should I need to do anything after dark. I've also picked up one of these from work and I love it!

Probably a bit too focused for frequent indoor lighting, but the magnetic base makes it pretty versatile and useful around the cabin and I've used it inside before.
I just noticed, these probably don't match the homey feel you're after though. (Still may be worth considering as auxiliary light if you'll be spending a lot of time at your cabin)

I swear by the tealight generated led lamps. I started with one from Lee Valley and now bought 2 more from Amazon.com
One tealight is multiplied by 18. Never worry about batteries again

Have you seen the rechargeable lightbulbs that you can use in any lamp? I don't know how bright they are in actuality but ...

Not very bright. For a point of reference a typical LED bulb that is more or less equivalent to an old 60 watt incandescent bulb puts out 750 to 800 lumens.. The bulbs linked to are 6 to 20 lumens. That's night night territory.

I bought 2 of these several years ago and they are still working great. Light enough to read by at night. Recharges quickly and also comes with a USB cable for quick recharge.

Yeah, I mostly linked to that site because it offered a good explanation. Amazon sells the version equivalent to 40-watt incandescent bulbs for about $15.
They're cool but it all depends on how much you're going to use them. One reviewer said he gets about 6 hours of use from a charge. That wouldn't work if you wanted to use these things exclusively. I plan to buy a couple of them to have on hand for light use because of their versatility. It's neat that you can use them in any lamp/light.
