Hey, I have a Henry Survival Rifle, its an AR7, take down, 22 semi automatic. All parts fits inside a floating rifle stock. The same ammo will fit a rifle and pistol.
Its an ideal survival rifle or bug out. Here is a 22's advantage. It can provide food with well placed shots, will protect food family and property with well placed shots, has a little report (pretty quiet, wont give away your position or draw in more trouble or scare more game) and you can carry 1000's of rounds with ease.
It would not be my zombie apocalypse rifle. I have another couple of units in mind for that job. 
I know you deleted it, but its a great topic.

Yep.. completely agree with toyota
But I don't have an ar7.
Instead I shoot 10/22, most accurate gun I own.
Cheap 3x9
Few 10rd clips, few 30rd, some 60.
Fun to shoot
Inexpensive
Deadly as heck.

I bought this " truck/atv/utv " survivor type gun about 12 or so years ago when they 1st came out

I do have a Browning BLR in 22LR, I also have a Taurus 9 shot stainless revolver (3" barrel) and a Winchester Model 190 that I put a Simmons 3X9 scope on it.
If I have to pick out only one rifle to bug out with, it would be a 22LR. Probably my Winchester Model 190, faster shooter vs the Browning lever rifle. I bought that model model 190 about 35 yrs ago for $25. They make it in model 290, same rifle, just fancy checkered walnut stock vs birch on the 190.
Deadly accurate too, can shoot the left nut off a gnat at 300 yards.

I bought a M&P AR15 in 22 LR added a lazer/ and light ...etc. / tricked it all out...I like shooting armadillo's with it
30 round mags...it would be a good bug out gun as well.
and I just happen to have 1000's of rounds of 22LR I have been hording after the ammo scare.

You didn't specify exactly what 'survival rifle' means but here is mine, built at home to boot...

I like a .22lr and .410 combo. The .410 has many uses and with buckshot or slugs it can take down a bigger animal a little easier. The shells are small and you can carry more of them. The .22 well there great for everything else.

Hmmm... I have been eyeing one of those up. Good to know you are happy with it. My only .22lr rifle at the moment is the 10/22 but I want something lighter and more compact.

I have a couple over and under's but here in Nova Scotia a fishing rod would be more practical for survival.

OK, great 22, I have a Colt match grade sporter H BAR, a Colt LE6920, A Sig Arms 556 in 5.56X45
Now those are fun 22's to shoot.

My choice would be a little bit different.. I'll reach over my .22's and take my HiPoint TS995, couple hundred rounds of 9mm, lee hand loading die, primers, powder and bullets...
Couple reasons for my choice.
-.22lr aren't water proof not even moisture resistant.
-they aren't reloadable
-they are a decent round but not a ton of energy
-the TS995 has a 16" barrel and is only maybe 1" longer then a AR when the AR's stock is fully collapsed.
-9mm round in a carbine is about as loud as a .22lr but MUCH quieter then a .223
-9mm round out of a 16" barrel will easily take a deer at 100yards
-9mm cases are reusable
Why not a .223? Nothing against it,
-but they are loud
-the cases are a PITA to reload
-they take a lot more powder to load
-cases have a limited number of reloading before getting to weak
Another rifle option would be the KelTec SUB2K, those things fold down and fit inside a case about the size of a flute case...

I have an old cooy 22 lr , with a 3-9 scope. Have carried it trapping for a lot of years. Like toyoto said , if you know where it is shootin you have no trouble hitten. old243

I keep a Mosin Nagant M-44 rifle and case of ammo hidden in the cabin at times. Main reason is this is a $50 rifle (when I bought it) and they don't get more simple and rugged than this. I also have a boat load of cheap ammo for it and it a large enough caliber to take out any animal that would require it.
However, for my weekend trips to the cabin I carry a Ruger Mark II government target pistol. I can shoot the eye out of a fly with this gun, it's a gun I can disassemble in my sleep and very rugged. It's main use is a noise maker as we do have an occasional bear. We have a mutual agreement, live and let live.
A bow, crossbow and fishing equipment are also ever present at the cabin. I'm not really worried about the zombie apocalypse. But I also have weeks of MREs stored at the cabin. I also familiarized myself with the edible plants of the region. It's very unlikely we would ever go hungry.
