Just wondering if anyone has been effected by flooding in the southern states? I feel for those people.

My city floods frequently but I was smart enough NOT to buy in the city. Abilene is kind of like a bowl and yours truly lives in the country, on the outskirts. The rim, if you will.

That said, I've had some roof damage from the wind and some hail. The lightning a couple of nights ago was so bad that the house literally shook. I need to call my insurance company on Monday. I suspect that the house is going to get a new roof before I sell it but just what I need to deal with, eh?

It has been raining and raining and raining. It's supposed to finally end tomorrow.

After Katrina I went down to help restore houses...

My regular home has a creek running next to the house, and the creek goes into a culvert. If the culvert ever was blocked, water would rise and go into my basement before it would flow over the road.

It's worth it to me to pay 300/year as a risk mitigation for flooding.

Never, but I take that info into consideration before buying land.
