The little b-s-a-d- are defeating everything I try?Wont touch a trap,get smart about an electric fencer wire,can't use poison(chickens)They are like miniature wood chucks digging holes under my coop.I can think of tougher measures but that would put my chickens at risk.

That's quite a video, but I have to say, they asked for it. That farm was totally filthy. What do you expect to happen if you leave piles of garbage like that around? The dogs sure had a good time. I felt sorry for the rats after the 50th brutal kill. Wow.

Rayyy have you tried the bucket trap? Search for mouse trap on this forum.
ToyTech, those Plummer Terriers really tore them up.. But couldn't help but notice the fine rat environment they created with all that debris.

I have done this before. If they are contained under the building get a hose from your exhaust on your pickup and just put them to sleep. Move your chickens outside first.

With the engine sounds and slight amount of burning oil that might be present in say tractor exhaust giving some of them enough warning to make a break for it, it doesn't hurt to have a lawn chair and a 22 handy. when the smoke clears if there are any survivors they know where the food is.
Chicken droppings contain quite a bit of food. As do eggs and chickens. If something else discovers that, and they will, game on.
My wife said over the weekend that these layers have dropped to breakeven on their feed vs what the eggs bring. We'll probably not replace them for bit, let the land heal, rebuild the coop and let the wildlife move on.

I was thinking a water hose and not the exhaust fume idea. I have used the water hose on skunks and it worked quite well. My weapon of choice though was a 4-10 but any firearm would work.

I'm not sure of the size of your chicken coop, but you could lift it up about a foot or two so the rats have nowhere to hide.
