It's been a disappointing winter in Newfoundland. Not much snow for riding...we couldn't even get into the cabin practically the entire month of Janwhich is very odd for here. Been cracking it to the firewood and filling up the wood shed. Cabin holds the heat really well...was -28c the other morning and about +30 in the camp...too warm really. The truvent had worked really well with no ice build up or icicles on the eves. Was hoping to get some pine up inside but with limited access towing a sled of gear was nearly impossible.

Well winter has turned around and we are still able to go anywhere on snowmobile. We have been stocking up on wood and enjoying the riding this winter. I made a few small log items for the cabin ...a lamp , pot rack and few benches. Not much in the way of production....more enjoyment this winter. Just spent 8 days in there over the Easter holidays and it was so relaxing and enjoyable. I and going to use Alaskan mill this week for some accent boards....should be nice.
Big crowd of visitors. Only in winter. Never see anyone in the summer

Back in the woods after a busy summer. Fall is the best time for working around here. Put some flooring down in the cabin this weekend. Have a few cedar shakes to finish a s then start doing some pine inside. We have had a very dry summer here ..the Brook is almost dried up . Looking FWD to getting the hammers going again now on some interior work.

It's been a while! Time to come back and post some updates. Been working on a small 12x12 shed. It's moose hunting season in NL ...my cabin neighbors were both successful this weekend ! All the cedar shakes outside are finally finished and 2 interior walls done with shiplap. It's fall and we r back at the cabin every weekend. Love it!

With the temps cooling down - the mosquitoS are gone and it's back at the cabin. We will spend just about every weekend here now until the snow goes sometime in April!

NF, I’m glad that you updated your post. Maybe spur me on also. We also had to freight all of our supplies in to our remote cabin. Mostly using snogos. In the unfrozen months we fly in. Then walk 2 miles to our cabin.

Aklogcabin I always say 80% of the work with this camp was getting the stuff to the site. Even building this small shed involved multiple trips with ATV's to bring in materials/bricks . But when we are sitting in there with the stove going and a wi Ter storm raging outside it's worth it. You cabin is looking great. What are you building in front ?
Got my shed just about done for this year anyways. Will go with some siding a s cedar shakes in the spring.
I noticed some questions a few posts back about the rafter ties...and meeting code .... Not sure if there are any bush codes around there...we built with what we had on hand ...they are 2x6 with collar ties in the proper location. Have had 3-4 feet of heavy wet snow on the roof the past several seasons and no issues.....no sagging.....so to me they passed the test.

Back again. Late winter here. Love it at the cabin with the stove going and the snowt falling. Going to build a big porch on this spring.
