I saw this product being applied to a house being built near mine. It's a grey membrane like a house wrap that has a plastic mesh on one side that is placed against the building to create an air gap. The builder said that it takes the place of the wooden lath that is normally used to create an air space. The membrane also provides a second layer of rain protection. He said you just roll it out over the tyvec and staple it on to the sheathing and then put on your siding.

Homeslicker was the first one I remember seeing. They have branched out with more products. This one has housewrap and drainage mat in one;

Wish that stuff was on my house now. Weeks and weeks of just about daily storms and downpours are messing with our homes. I noticed some paint looking "ridgy" midway down in the corner of an exterior wall last night. There's no dampness and the paint itself is hard and solid so no leak. Just unrelenting humidity causing chemical changes in the paint, I guess.
