Does anyone have experience with the Butt-and-Pass / Butt Joint method of building. Seems pretty straight forward.

It isn't much more work to notch and pass which helps seal and stabilize the corner better. Sort of depends, that would be about the most basic method.

My place is done that way. I haven't noticed any issues with the corners. It's 5 years young in a few weeks.

Butt & Pass method is as old as the other methods... There are comparisons between methods, pro's & cons etc...
Butt & Pass is less labour intensive for assembly but you have to be spending more time measuring & fitting up... Chinking is often not necessary and pinning every 4 feet is a must. It's fairly common around my area and we have many examples over 100 years old and still housing families quite comfortably.
