If you are in the building phase, as we have been for the last 3 years, what landmarks have you achieved this year?

If everything goes right this weekend, by Sunday, I will be able to flush. Indoor working toilet is something I've been promising mama for over a year and I think this weekend it may happen.

Congrats on your toilet instal. I know the feeling.

I completed a little bath house with shower and flush toilet this year. It is so nice to have a bathroom.

And, I had my cabin framed up.

Indeed, a landmark year.

Way to go. Indoor plumbing is a big accomplishment.

I added a deck to the front of the camp. Tore out the old kitchen and replaced it with new cabinets and farm sink. Still need to install counter top and doors.

We were able to take a hot bath last weekend, That has been many years in the making I was pretty proud of that. We also bought a used canoe and were able to boat around the lake for the first time.

Hot baths and used canoes are two of life's best pleasures.

Glad you can flush! I finally got my hardwood floor installed. It's been 2 years since that big red oak fell over, but it made a pretty floor. Now I hope to get interior wall covered and I can build a bunk bed so I can fold up the cots.

Finally got my solar hooked up, plugs in the living room and loft, a real bathroom light above the sink, and the water line from the well up through the bath wall up to a Guzzler pump to the holding tank. This coming week I will finish the water pipes to the sink and have an operating shower with hot water. The solar works amazing, can even vacuum during the day - probably even in evening but haven't tried that yet. The battery monitor I installed indicates no less than 10% DOD so batteries holding up well. Will report back on the water set up and results.

Probably not an earthshaking development for others, but we think it's pretty neat.
This spring we put in 300 minnows and 50 baby Bluegill into our new pond by the cabin. They just went into the depths and vanished.
I figured they'd all been eaten or died somehow because I never saw one again.
But a few days ago my wife and I were hanging out and she said, "Look!"
There was a school of about 15 Bluegill and all kinds of babies swimming around the shore.
I guess one advantage of time at our cabin is we enjoy the simple things.
Edit: sorry, I just read the first post. This isn't a construction landmark.

I put some finishing touches on my sauna/bunking and assembled some wooden Adirondack chairs for the porch. Even made a red neck pool to cool off in. Also finished my wood shed I started last fall. This summer it's about relaxing and enjoying the place. I'm heading up this weekend and I promised my wife no tools!

Absolutely nothing.

However, this will be forever known as the year everything went right.

It seems every year I have at least one somewhat involved project. Then when I'm halfway in, something else goes wrong.

This year I have undertaken nothing other than maintenance and EVERYTHING has been working. The mower has worked all season, the water collection system has worked, no power problems, etc.

Its been a good year.
