Thanks! I went through the wall with a thimble and double walled pipe, if I were to do it again I'd go through the roof, poor planning on my part.

I like all the wood. It's 1 aspect of being a cabin!

I like the all wood as well. To me it says "cabin" and it will also hold up a bit better than sheet rock I bet... in the sense of being unheated at times.

Yes thanks, I was trying to go for the classic cabin look. Now I just need to find an old wooden icebox and some older furniture that will fit in there

I've seen new fridges done over to look like old iceboxes that looked pretty good... Might be an idea to get the look while staying efficient.

a quick google search provides one of many excellent examples.

bwalak, GE has a line of appliances that have the look and simplicity of older units. We have the fridge and range in our cabin. Very happy with them so far.

Our cabin is also all wood, you are correct bwalak it has held up great after 4 winters without heat. Drywall I've heard could have cracks in the seems.

Thanks! It’s been my dream to build this for a while now so I’ve had plenty of time to come up with exactly what I wanted it to look like once I finished, I couldn’t be happier with the way it turned out... now if I could just get away from work for a weekend so I can enjoy it!!

Looks great! Did you have any luck hunting? I had hopes to be able to use mine this season. Next year!

Looks great. Love the look of your old woodstove. I bet those gas lights look good when they are lit.

Hey there. We're working on getting our cabin in Maine closed in. It looks like you went without collar ties on your rafters, as we are considering doing. Ours is a 16x24 with a 12/12 roof, built very similarly to yours. What was your thought on the collar ties? I'd really like to have that headroom in our loft. Your place looks great!

Thanks guys! No luck yet but I’ll be heading back up next weekend. I hung the rafters off of a ridge beam and and then used oversized beams for the ceiling joists (floor of the loft) so i figured collar ties wouldn’t add all that much more stability, and I was dealing with a 16/12 pitch with a metal roof so snow load wasn’t as big of an issue.

Milford, this is what a 16x24 looks like with a 12/12. I did decide on a 2' knee wall so the walls are taller all around. Ridge beam is a 5x12" glulam, rafters are 2x10s with a birds mouth.

I would be interested to know how you orient the bed in your loft. It seems to be the same size and slope of mine and I am trying to figure out what to do.

Do you have water in the upper cabinet above the sink? If so can you post pics of the setup?

I do, it’s just a 15 gallon plastic tank hooked into copper water pipe, gravity fed. I’ll post pictures next time I get up there
