I'm running a bunch of usb stuff at my cabin, lights, tablets, phone, heating pad, modem... I was buying dollar store charging cords but after a short time the connectors fail so I bought a 10 pack of 'best quality' cords online. No better. I have a couple with cloth instead of plastic cords, seem to last longer. Anyone have a good source?

Seems to be hit or miss ordering the "discount" ones off the Internet. I've had some good luck ordering from various vendors on www.aliexpress.com (straight from China basically). I do also like to use www.monoprice.com for cables - they tend to have decent quality and will stand behind their product.

I agree that they're hit-or-miss. I just accept the fact that some of them are going to be bad. Still, I seem to end up with way more of these cables (especially male USB to male mini USB cables) than I need. They seem to breed like rabbits around my house, every time we get a new electronic device. I just threw away a bunch of extras the other day.

I have kids. I have never had a cord long enough to fail.

X2 on not pulling by the cord. I have had good luck with Qualcomm cables. I get them from Digi-Key. Convenient for me, I work next door.

I saw a thing on pintrest the other day where a person took parachord and braided it around the ends of their usb cables to protect them and make them last longer. Not sure how well it works but looked kind of cool
