I just came in from building a log bench for the changing room of the sauna I'm building this summer, and while I was building it I was thinking about building a shaving bench. Yours looks pretty good, so I might copy it. Any changes you would recommend?

I just sort of winged it based on some photos I've seen over the years.
I really like the mortise method to support the board as you can raise the height by adding blocks under the support piece.
The bench is too short. I knew this when I made the shave horse, but I had a the 3" slab of Red Oak in the garage so I went ahead and used it. The bench should be about 1 to 1.5' longer than this one.
