Hey guys here is a tour of my land and some tips on driveway/road building. I have a build thread on here some where but I can’t find it at the moment. I’ve got some other videos made but not uploaded so if you want to learn more about my build and land I’ll have more coming.

Nice property, you'll be creating memories that will last a lifetime.

When I saw your cabin picture, my first thought was the close proximity of the cedar trees to the structure. Hopefully it isn't, and wont ever be a concern, but if you've ever seen a cedar, in wildfire conditions, they can almost explode in a fireball due to the resins and hydrocarbons within.

In my location of NE Oklahoma, several types of non-native, invasive cedars are considered nuisance, with many landowners waging war against their spread. Others tend to appreciate their green in winter when little else provides a break to the otherwise colorless landscape. ('Even seen them used as Christmas trees.)

'Used to think that I didn't live in an area where wildfires were a problem, the past several years have changed my thinking. 60 of my 80 acres were burned several years ago when (during a burn-ban) an idiot 3/4 mile away decided he had to burn some trash, and the rest you can imagine.

Again, maybe it's not apropos for you, but should you ever experience such a situation, it'll change the way you view your surroundings.

Best of luck with your project.

you're absolutely right DBR, I'm planning to have a bunch of buddies down for a cedar clearing party. I've also got a botanist friend who is on me to thin the cedars because they crowd out the rare prairie flora/fauna. They are quite close to the cabin, actually touching it in one area, so it's going to be thinned soon.

The no zoning or bylaws for building codes is nice! Most of the Ontario guys would love to be able to just build a 300sq ft cabin.

Like the hybrid timber framing for the inside.

Thanks for watching meloj, It was one of my big requirements when buying land. I just doesn't sit right with me to need permission to build my cabin the way I want.
