Spent 24 hours at the cabin yesterday and today. Felt so good to be back. Fired up the new diect vent heater and the cabin was a toasty 18° all night.Turn yer cabbage when sideways when lookin at da photo. Uploads from phones r messed up

Expecting a nor'easter in NH later this week. Hoping to get up there- bought a snowmobile 5 weeks ago and hasn't snowed since. Definitely need some cabin time

Wilbour - what direct vent heater did you go with?
I have a Housewarmer and for whatever reason it is a pain in the neck to light after it has been sitting off for a while. It could be as little as 2 weeks and it still is difficult. I turn the main propane supply off each time I leave but I leave the valve on to the furnace.
Have you had any issues?

Yes they are a pain to fire up. I have a 10ft long hose from the tank to the heater and it takes a while for the gas to reach the pilot. I have to hold down the Pilot button for 30seconds to a minute for there to be the right gas concentration to reach the pilot.
It does work well and actually has a dual stage burner. The flame is more intense when you crank it up.

I just got back to the farm myself. Took a few moments to turn on the heat and the inverter. What a great feeling to be back for another season.

I found my new martin is better than the Escabe (ashley, etc brands). But the use of a heavy weight to hold the pilot gas control down sure helps. They re harder to start as the temp drops, I have waited up to 5 minutes to get enough gas to light the pilot.

Yes and no. The bathroom is the longest to the biggest heater takes the longest to turn on / reignite.
The great room heater tho, used to take quite a bit of time and now it starts pretty quick. That's the one where I had to swap out the dead "us stoves" with the Martin. Gotta say I really like the Martin. The variable flame, the view port (which I thought would be silly, but actually is kind of neat), the good looks. 
The bedroom 8k still lights easiest of the "escabes" but the run is only 6'.
I also upgraded my propane regulators from the old style bbq tank (2 stage tho for 100lbers) to fancy italian models. So the reg might have something to do with it?
Don't have a lot of data here. I came back to plus 4. Everything goes easier at these temps.
Including these old bones.

I would highly suggest to have power bank and car jump starter with you all time as it is the most wanted tool to have along while on a trip.
