This little fella has taken up residence in the folds under my gazebo.
He's been hangin around for a while. I know he's there. Yet he still manages to scare the BJeezus outta me when I go out to " Check the Dew "on the lillies in the evenings.😧

Looking at those tail feathers, it might be a hawk. And they like mice.

bless his little heart he found a nice comfy spot. Yes, looks like a bird of prey, keep varmints to a minimum.

It could be an American Kestrel. Maybe build him a house.

I've built bird houses, bat houses and an outhouse. Fortunately, at least 1 out of the 3 are used. 💩 Since we live in the woods, I guess the birds and bats are more DIYers.
The birds won't move into my bird house. No bats in the bat house. I have an enclosed construction trailer. I left the doors open once. Within' a half a day, the birds had no problem building a nest, on a shelf, next to the microwave.
Mother Nature. Gotta Love It!

I did build a bird house, close to my cabin, birds were hauling in twigs and next thing I know, a squirrel takes over, birds gone and in spring, 3 little baby nuggets (heads) were peeking out the window of that bird house.

As much as we like critters that being in the 'folds of the gazebo is a might too close.
See if there is a licensed re-hab for birds of prey that will relocate for free?

It looks a little creepy. You never know what to expect from wild animals. It looks like a hawk, and this is an extremely dangerous bird.

I tell ya, some of the spam posts crack me up.

The front porch on our cabin faces south and there is a generous roof overhang that keeps the snow out from under it. More then one morning I've walk out of the cabin only to have an explosion of spruce grouse come flying out from under my feet! Fortunately, that's usually when I'm on my way to the outhouse because it can scare the s$!# out of you!

Beautiful little bird. We also have spruce hens that live under our cabin. We don't hunt them. They are my mouse patrol. Not uncommon to have them under the cabin when it rains either. We hear them walking around clucking.
I admit that I do feed them. And enjoy having them around.

Birds of prey are everywhere around here including hawks, eagles, falcons and owls. It’s part of the attraction for me to living in the wilderness. They can make a real mess where they nest, so making an alternative site for that cute little bird is something to consider.
