do u keep a journal of all your land and cabin building experiences?

when i built my 1st cabin on my property 21 years ago, i keep up with every purchase $$$ i spent, when i fertlized or planted trees, etc.
how many deer or turkey i killed off the farm etc............
when i ever i run across it, i always smile when i read it...........
have not added to it in over 10 years...........
should start back, since i started clearing property for new camp......

I put quite a bit of information on a blog. However, I do keep a personal journal at the cabin and a guest log. The personal journal has plans, drawings, thoughts, sketches, etc. When the journal gets full, I send it to my nephew who lives in another state as way to share the experience.

yeah.i told hubby if we kept a journal of all we did each time we were out there...sit at the end of the evening over the fire and a cup of coffee-we would be clear on dates and events and then he could add his funny twist on things and there he would have another book.i think he just cares about funny stuff.lol

years ago, a buddy of mine invited us to his family's cabin for a weekend hunting trip. he had one of those dollar journals and anytime anyone from his family would visit the cabin, before they left, they would write down the date of their visit and any highlights.
even though each entry was maybe only a few sentences long, page after page, year after year - the "family journal" documented a long history of hunting trips, family get-togethers, etc.

i am gonna do this all the next time we head out.i will keep a consistent journal.i am going to write about the wild foods i find and how i fix them and my squirrel hunting ventures and cooking squirrels and Gary o watching cause he wants me to do this so he can get a hat.he has already told me he will never eat a rodent.
snicker.so i plan on making a steady stick to it journal.maybe a book tht can write itself.

2. expense record of anything that could count towards taxes; either for the immediate year or for when, if ever, it gets sold or passed on

actually i suppose i want to keep a journal of our jobs we accomplished each day.
and the plants i identify and write what they are and find out if edible and how certain processes work out such as the making of the solar shower and things such as this.the progress of the hand pump and well.things like this.
anymore ideas?

another idea would be to post the things i cook out there for each meal and how i cooked it.i would have a pretty interesting cookbook after no time at all.of course it would be way better to live out there and live and do to figure out certain catching of meals and growing of crops and meal s and going to town once a month to stock up.to keep a journal of all of this would be pretty interesting.

As I haven't started a cabin yet. I have a wish book filled with a few cabin plans, etc. Today took a few photos of possible site. Those will be added as well.

been writing in my journal at the cabin.i keep it there.i write down the date and what we did and saw.man.never knew how handy it could be.like we were trying to figure out what season we saw this or that.well just open up the journal and lo and behold.there it is.yay.pretty handy i have to say

I've been keeping a journal since we bought our cabin 8 years ago. Great resource for finding out when we did what, who visited when or just 'remember this'? As they say, time flies and there is no way I'd remember it all!

When my uncle built the cabin he would keep a journal about his visits. I have now owned the place for 4 years and started keeping a journal from day one. On every visit we log an entry into the journal. Sometimes the entries are daily, some are a synopsis of the time spent up there. Every entry is prefaced with what the weather was like and the temperature. I have a mandatory rule for visitors, that being that they cannot leave without making a journal entry first about their experience. I make it a point for the kids to write about their favourite part of their visit. I especially enjoy reading what others have entered. I figure the journal will be an excellent starting point when they make a tv series about me. Ha Ha Ha.
