I'm jealous! We haven't had much in southwestern ontario this winter. We are planning a trip to the cabin in eastern ontario late february and I'm hoping some snow falls before then. There is something peaceful about sitting by a woodstove inside the log cabin with 3 feet of snow outside!!

That does sound nice. I've never lived anywhere that snowed, haven't even been since I quit skiing at Tahoe 25 years ago. Always had a romantic interest in it, having never had to shovel it.

Wait, it did snow once at my cabin! Back in 2015 I was on the backhoe digging away, nose to the ground, when a man in a suit suddenly appeared. I figured it was the county inspector or some other bad news. Turned out it was a location scout, they were filming a Honda commercial in the area. Long story short, they paid me $2,500 to use the place for one day. It was a big to do, actors, catering truck, lights, cameras...even brought in a truck that sprayed artificial snow.

I should get one of those snow machines..

We've been lucky so far.
Our full time home is snow free at the moment.
Snow has come and gone several times. Its fallen, rained and washed a way with some warm weather.
There's still some snow on the ground up north.
The road to the cabin up north is still passable in AWD but it only takes one good snow storm to make it a LONG walk in and where only 1/2 way through January...
Winters got a long way to go yet, we've had snow on the road till April before. Not to mention the mud and mess it leaves in its wake..

I'm not hoping for snow. But I did spend $250 getting my snow blower fixed last year. Haven't needed it yet. But at least, when it does snow, I'm ready.

I agree skoot. Its nice to have a warm cabin fully stocked with everthing we need. Then watchin the rest of the world spazz out on the tv. It amazes me that so many people are un prepared for a foot of snow. They closed a few interstates. People had to hunker down in their cars, without any supplies. Its not that hard to have a bag with cold weather gear already in the vehicle!
One way in. Only way out.lol

Paulz, that's awesome! Honda cars, or power equipment, or? Local or national commercial? Neat thing to have them use your area!

Nate, it was a Honda van, you can see it in the photo, dark color far left, rear towards the snow. They were showcasing the back up camera, new at the time I guess. I never did see the commercial on television.

Another time my place got used for a Ralph Lauren shoot, albeit briefly. Bit of a funny story: I have a bunch of old motorcycles and get called once in awhile to rent them out for shoots, pays $500 a day each and usually beats working. So two of them, a Velocette and a BMW got used for this Lauren gig, which happened to be in my area so they used the property too, you can see it in the video below, it's the first ten seconds or so before the guy fishing. Anyway as you can see they cut back and forth between the bikes like they are the same one, I suppose Ralph Lauren clothing type dudes wouldn't notice. Then they wanted to film the bike doing a burnout. Well none of the models could ride a motorcycle, so they had the guy fake a kick start then yelled 'cut'. Then I, Mr. stunt double, hopped on and did the little burnout, wearing a Ralph Lauren boot, one only! That's my famous left foot. However they did give me both boots afterward, only they looked like they would last about one day of cabin work so sold them on Ebay for $75. Ralph Lauren Boots, one new, one worn briefly...

Here's the video:
