Hi everyone. I have a 15 acre property that is a small farm, which has my home on it as well. Living in Ontario.
At one end of the property I would like to build a small bunkie for guests. No running water, no services, just a woodstove. The proposed site can't be seen from the road, there are banks of pine and cedar trees covering the site. Looking at 150-250 sq feet. It is close to a man made pond, about 30 feet away.
Where does this type of dwelling stand with regards to the permit process? Anyone out there added a cabin to their existing residence property?
Thanks for any insight! Hope everyone is enjoying their cabins.. Even though I have a house here I can't wait to relax in a cabin - no electricity, phones or Internet! But if you want it, go up to the main house :)

AS far as i know any thing up to 10 sq. m is O.K. any thing over that , you need a permit .......of course you could have 3 ,,, 10 'sq meter buildings i have 3 on my 50 a c 's + my main res..!!! ..kent county

depends your township, each one has differnt bylaws, id call up the building inspector and see BUT im 99 percent sure anything over 100 sqft youll need a permit.

I'm going to consult with my neighbor who is an inspector for the closest city, but used to operate in my county. I know he won't tell anyone ;)

It might not need a permit or be easier if you call it a farm building.
