Hello, I was wondering if anyone has heard of Black Willow being suitable for log cabin building. I have a ton of it and it is all between 6-12" in diameter and straight as an arrow. Thank you,
Cory

If you keep the cabin well off the ground, and build real good overhangs I would do it. My only concern would be a ridge pole.

"Decay" does not just happen from water affecting the building from the ground. It can also mean water hitting the building from the sides (wind driven rain) or just the moisture in the air (such as in a hot, humid environment or near the ocean). It can also happen from moisture inside the cabin trying to get out.

I would probably cut the black willow into boards and line the interior with it if you like the look of it.
