I took delivery of my little 1000/800w sportsman a few days ago..it was actualy cheaper buying it from jet.com so thats what i did.

If it really does run at 4-5,000rpm i cant hear it doing this. Its very very quiet and im compairing this to my military diesel 1800rpm unit not a normal generator. With a 50-100ft extension cord and something like a 4 sided box to direct the little noise there is i dont think you would hear it at all even off eco mode.

I changed the oil at 1.5hrs and got quite alot of metal out. Then again at 2.7hrs and no metal at all. Next il change it at mabe 5-6hrs and put synthetic in.

At 800w im suprised it would start and run my 8a drill and start and run my 24in barrel fan. So far im very happy with this little generator.

As of yesterday it's only got 13hrs on it, I changed the oil 3x now. I put an hour meter on it prior to even starting. However this weekend it will be deployed in my solar setup to run a 4.3cuft fridge. The little 800w running will start and run the following, 4.3cuft mini fridge, 12v30a charger or a 5cuft chest freezer. It wont run a older 5btu AC. But I have a plan for that.

In the end it's a bit small for many things but will put 30a into my 12v battery bank without running at max. Also I dont expect this to last 500hrs but for $200 i can buy quite a few at the cost of a name brand one.

I just bought a 2200W Sportsman ($540 on Amazon) for the cabin. Haven't used it other to test so I can't comment on reliability, the reason I went for this one was it's dual fuel so I can run it off the cabin propane tanks. I'm assuming it's disposable as I doubt parts are available unlike the Generac I use at the house. I was using an old 600W Honda which is a great unit but barely starts the refrigerator after tripping the breaker a couple of times.
