Picked up this piece of industrial catwalk at a junk store in town for $10. Had this project in mind since tracking snow into the cabin last winter. A piece of plywood under the hole should make cleaning the snow out easier. Pictures tell the story!
BTW.... might be hard to see in the pics but the pencil I'm using is a Magenta Prisma Color art pencil. A little trick I learned years ago when building log homes.... these pencils will mark just fine, and actually brighter on wet logs/wood. Regular graphite pencils just don't show up on wet wood. Great idea I’ve got a piece of that at my entrance to catch the pine needles in the summer but would work great for winter as well

We don't have pine needles... Aspen mostly, some fir and spruce.... but we do have mud in the spring! I think this grate will help with the mud too.
