12x16 Small Cabin
What liquid coating could I use to finish a plywood floor? Something clear might be nice to see the wood grain but it might be too slick. Garage/concrete coating maybe. Paint may not last.

I've used Minwax Fast Dry Poly (Semi Gloss) for floors on many things besides floors. It's really great stuff ! It does need 7 hrs between coats and a slight scuff between cots but the results are astounding and when it finally hardens up, really tough stuff ! While it is a clear, it does really bring out the colours in the wood, I rally loved the effect on the Cedar planks I used for my bathroom floor.

We painted our plywood floors with an industrial floor paint. It's been over ten years and just now starting to look like it needs to be repainted.

They make a 2 part epoxy floor covering. We have it in our basement concert floor but it might work on wood. Our first coat has color added but 2nd and last coat is clear. They put some grit in it to keep it from be slick.

I did see one hunting cabin that they used a lite color RinoCoat like is in the bed of a truck. It was some tough stuff, lol

I went with a floor paint. I know it won't last forever, but figure I will probably grow tired of the color and want to repaint at some point anyway. When it's a little cabin like mine (10x16) that's easy enough to do.

Minwax Fast Dry Poly 3 coats. I sanded the subfloor first.

Dont use poly. That plywood floor is not sandable. Use a good quality tung oil. All you ever have to do to re finish it is re apply more stain.
I have two 70-74lb dogs and a wood floor that we used tung oil on 6 years ago. I have not had to re apply becids some light touch up, with no sanding. Yes the wood is scratched but its not visable due to the stain actually soaking in the wood. This is something that wil never happen with poly.

my sister put minwax poly on plywood floor it its worked fine. I have had it on my cabin floor or 8year and is holding out great! really tough stuff. I have three dog in the house no problem with the finish. if you want to freshen up your floor just add another coat!

I don' see any real downside to using the Minwax product on OSB as long as the OSB is solid and has not got any areas that are flaking loose.
Minwax makes several products with poly in the name. There is a water based finish known as Polycrylic and an oil based finish known as Polyurethane. They both produce durable finishes. I have used mostly the Polycrylic in the past 15 years or so as clean up is easier with just soap and water.
The water based version also dries crystal clear, does not have a yellow color cast like the oil based finish. That is another reason I prefer the water based type. No color change. It has proven itself to be quite durable.
Minwax also sells a product called polyshades, which is an oil based stain and polyurethane protection all in one step.
There is a special version of both the water based and the oil based, made for floors. They are both tougher than the standard.
I have hardwood floors and stair treads using the Polycrylic floor finish in the satin. Various wood surfaces like walls and ceilings have the standard polycrylic. I also used the floor version on the bathroom counter that is a stained alder.
