Ok. Long story short I am at camp and my 12 volt shurflo crapped out. Making noise and drawing a lot of juice. Is there any better models out there now. I need to order one this week so that I have for next weekend. I draw water up about 5’. Must be 12 volt. I just don’t want to buy the same one and find out there is something better out there

Shurflo are pretty good pumps... I had one go out on me about 3 years ago, noise no pumping, talked to an engineer at Shurflo and he recommended rebuilding the head of the pump. He told me as long as the motor is running anything that can go wrong is in the head.

If it's not pumping... noise, drawing a lot of juice... did you pull the head off to look for obstructions? Usually there is a little screen on the intake, is that clear? If it is bearings going out, then you are SOL, time buy a new pump. (Take the head off and turn it on, you will then know.)

Shurflo is kind of the "gold standard " for RV pumps. Maybe others have a better pump to recommend. I certainly don't.

All it takes is a tiny bit of dirt to render the pumping mechanism useless. Often it can be cleaned and work again, as long as the motor is okay. They sell an entire replacement head as well as the valve cups. I carry a spare in the RV, and have a spare at the cabin just in case. Better than being without water for a spell.

Oh, I'd stick with Shurflo because parts are available. There are a few cheaper, off brand pumps, but why go there?

Thanks guys. I will stick with shurflo. When I bought this pump they were considered the best but didn’t know if that changed.

I had that problem, took the pump apart. There were bits of plastic , cuttings that were sucked up out of the tank. Cleaned up, and reassembled. There are poppet valves, in there, if dirt gets under them, they can't create suction and pump. Clean your pump, it will likely be as good as new. old 243

I think you're best with Shurflo still. Plus even if you can't clean the old one and make it work again a new one ought to be "plug and play" in the old location, makes the changeout quick.

What I did when my pump went out in my camper van was buy a new one, install it (so we had water), cleaned and fixed the old one and now I have a spare, as you're now finding out spares at cabins are worth a lot!

Yes I actually pulled off the old pump before I left and brought it home. This way I can switch all the fittings over at home so all I have to do is hook the hoses on each end, tighten 2 clamps, and hook up electric. I plan on taking the old pump apart and cleaning it up to see if it will work. Hopefully it does and I will keep for spare. Fortunately when it went it was only a few hours before leaving, so it wasn't that bad.
