Spent the last few days at the cabin. My old man came for 2 days to help out too! Got my bedroom sheet rocked, removed the ceiling over the living room, installed the rough cut beams, and upgraded the well tank.

Wow, nice beams.

It feels great to get it done and look at the progress after a long day of work with a nice cold Canadian beer.

Thanks! There is a mill 10 min down the road where I got the beams. $60 for two 4x8x16, couldn’t believe how cheap it was. Put in some sconces this morning before I headed home.

Lucky for you to have a mill nearby.
All our white cedar logs came from our property. The loft flooring and ceiling t&g came from the a farmers mill.
Beautiful stuff and economical.

Keep plugging away, it’s coming out great...
Looks really square and solid...
Best part is having family there to help, I’m envious.

Shot back up to knock out some more. Got some more sheet rock done and cabinets in. I would have liked to have the drywall joints taped and sanded first but since I salvaged these cabinets from a house that was getting knocked down in needed to see how they would fit before the drywall in case anything needed to be moved. Good thing I did it that way, three outlets needed to move. And since space is at a premium I hung them before taping so I can continue drywalling the rest of the place.
