As small cabins or bathrooms / bathhouse:
In my case I’d like to build a bathhouse between our two cabins. I’m thinking that a sea container would be great for the job however my brother suggested just getting an old travel trailer.
So now I’m thinking that that an old travel trailer just might work well, especially if I were to clad it in appropriate siding or put it in a shell, to hide the fact that it’s a trailer. I could gut the living quarters and maybe turn the space into something useful. Any thoughts on that?
As a cabin:
In reading another thread I’m thinking that a used trailer with slide outs and fold out beds could also be gutted and repurposed as a small cabin. (Maybe by removing the roof and some walls but utilizing the frame. Slide outs etc.

An advantage to a trailer or container is its not permanent and not taxable.

As the owner of a old trailer used as a permanent camp , a bit of my experience, fix the roof first , old trailers leak sooner or later . Buy one with square windows and doors . Try to get one that is not very aerodynamic ,it’s hard to build around round corners.The ceilings are low in a trailer not good for wood stoves . That all being said I love mine and would do it again .

There are a few people around my area who have repurposed old travel trailers. The best thing that many of them do is to build a roof structure over them. Many use one of the steel tube and panel roof shelter things. Carport roof or whatever they are called. Also makes them cooler in the summer and if the roof is done right it also carries snow load better than an old traevel trailer.
Probably no point is trying to disguise them as no matter what I have seen people do hey still look like a trailer to me.

My lady loved the 'junk' trailer, and wanted me to Help make it her hobby hut
Sooooo, I framed it with 2x2s (an engineering marvel)
and put a metal roof on it
Snow just slips off
(one day a tree is going to 'accidently' fall on it.....it's a hope)

I think by the time you hide the fact that it's a trailer you have basicly stick built a building on a metal frame.
These frames are usually not strong as the shell is part of the strength.
I had a flat bed made out of one with a 2x12 deck. The thing flopped around like a wet noodle behind my vehicle.

Very interesting. I had assumed that the frames were very sturdy but I guess the old unibody concept has won out.
So a sea shipping container might be a better alternative to removing roof or walls on a travel trailer.
An old travel trailer might still make a nice bathhouse.
I’ve also seen some commercial washroom trailers but most seem dedicated to events.
