This is my first spring since I built my cabin, it’s not perfect as I am a plumber and not a carpenter lol and did the entire cabin completely alone. However there’s a lot of water underneath the cabin I’m worried I’m screwed. Like I said it’s not perfect however just want to know what I can do (add temporary support, pump out the water, or if I’m screwed) this summer I will be able to do more work on it so if there’s anything you can suggest for the short term fix and long term or if it’s normal. that would be great. Thanks.

No you are not screwed. It is probably a low spot so the water is gonna collect in there after snow is gone or heavy rains. Dig a trench around the cabin and install french drain and direct the pipes down some slope. French drain is not expensive. All you need is some perforated pipes and gravel shovel and some beer...

How much space (distance) is uphill from from the cabin? Pic 2 shows some but cannot tell.

Thinking snow melt and heavy rains.

The pic in your previous post didn't look like you were building on a swamp. I would wait to see if it drys up after the snow is gone and I would go out there during a heavy rain to see if the problem happens again.

If it a recurring problem with drainage, you could dig a swale (ditch) on the uphill side to divert water around the cabin. I did this for a septic field on a hill. About four feet deep. 10 feet across, and 200 long. V shape. So, wait until you know the scope of the problem before spending time and money.

It just looks like normal spring breakup to me. The ground is still frozen and the snow is melting and the water has no where to go right now.

I wouldn't worry about it too much for now. If water keeps collecting under there after rain storms, then I'd look at creating some sort of drainage.

Proper site prep prior to building can really pay off later..now you know why. Best option now is to dig some trenches under there and allow things to drain.

Dealing with similar issue, except ours was inherited by original builder's choice of positioning on the property.. So I'm taking notes on all things drainage here. Depending on your foundation type, you may end up dealing with some frost heave problems over time, as I'm sure you're aware.

DaveBell's suggestion of the V shape trench above the cabin sounds like good advice to me, judging by what we can make out in your pictures. Not sure how you would go about / long term-efficacy of digging trenches under the cabin, at this point, as Brettny suggests.

I put my Cabin up higher on some piers. But I have a lot of run off that use to sit and flood part of my property in the spring. Two years ago I dug a trench all the way down where the run off comes down and settles or builds up. Put in a few drains in that was attached to the Corrugated Perforated Pipe (100' 70.00) and some drainage rock. Now directs the water down hill towards the Creek. It can be fixed with a little work. This guy is very knowledgeable of the subject. It is where I got some advice. He has some crazy eyebrows. lol Apple Drains Aslo Me fixing my drainage issue

That's the way to do it Nickles. But if you can redirect the water from even getting into that drain you made it's even better.

Alot of run off is surface water and surface water can be moved away with a simple swale uphill from the cabin. I have swales and ditches all over both of my properties.

Thanks for all the responses! Decided to pump the water out and it seems to work just fine. Every 3rd day it needs to be pumped.. there’s enough pipe to make down the hill. 50$ pump with 48’ of pipe

That's a decent temp fix and if it works and drains the whole underside of the cabin now you know where to put a catch basin or something else to collect the water and let gravity take it away.
