i am changing from 12v to 24v. I currently have a Xantrex Freedon Marine 3000w inverter charger and it seems to use a ton of juice when at idle. Looking for a reco for a 4kw/24V inverter/charger that wont eat power while not under any/much load. Thx

They all have a spec. There's not that many 4kw that also charge so your search wont be to vast. Look up the manufacturer specs.

The lower idle currents will be in the newer topline products from Outback or Schneider. ITRC they get down to 8 - 9 watts at idle. They also have some with standby mode with basically 0 watt but they have a slight lag when power is called for. That can sometimes be a pain, or hard to tune when the loads are very small like small led lights. Schneider has at least one that can do 6800 watts, and you pay for it. But I think it is 48 volts only
