Ever get bit by a brown recluse or black widow? I have bites that I think are from a brown recluse given my property's in their geographical habitat. Curious if anyone else's had similar experiences? Didn't feel the bite, very itchy and the inflammation/irritation extends outward (about the size of a dime) from the bite, the very center of the bite (about the size of a pencil tip) dies, takes several weeks to fully heal, occasionally a small scar's left behind which then disappears after a year or two. Don't know what else could cause that.

I've been bitten by a Brown Recluse spider about thirty years ago. I stuck my hand in a hole where I had dropped my flashlight exploring in a small cave. Stupid thing to do. I felt a pinprick, jerked my hand out. My brother looked in the hole with his light and saw the spider. He was was sure it was a Brown Recluse. We were stuck where we were in the middle of nowhere, UT in severe winds that had kept us grounded that day. We were backcountry exploring and camping with the SuperCub. Night came and I was nauseous, vomiting, my hand hurt like hell. Fortunately, the morning came and was calm and I felt good enough to fly us out, though the hand ached a lot and I still felt like shit. We stopped at a small town hospital we knew of and they gave some anti-biotics and an anti-venom shot. They wanted to keep me overnight for observation but we made a deal and promised to stay in town till the next day, just in case.
IF you truly have a brown recluse bite the bite mark should be depressed, or sunken down, not puffed up. The venom destroys the capillaries around the bite causing skin cells to die. In a really bad case, the venom starts to break down red blood cells and your urine turns orange or coffee colored.

Maybe a brown recluse didn't bite me - what I have seems too mild. Whatever it was, it definitely delivered venom. I know it wasn't a bee/wasp/hornet, but I'm at a loss of what else it could've been.

I had a black widow bite. Felt bad, like bad allergies, headache, a bit of fog to my vision. Didn’t feel the bite, but it was swollen and very itchy. Had skin necrosis, looked ugly, left a scar.
I felt better in a few days.
I got my bite while moving firewood. I’m careful about long sleeves and gloves now.
We’ve found several black widows in our porta potty- I inspect it first thing every visit!
I’ve provided three nature centers with our excess black widows. They are always a draw!

Spencerin... I have several small scars on my arms and legs that resulted from bites very similar to what you describe. In my case they come from a small fly, common around my cabin during certain summer periods. I don't know what type of fly it is, but it is very similar (the same?) to the Black Flies of the northwoods.
