yup, very expensive. I struggled with it and used battery operated ones for years. Kept replacing them as they didn't last.
To be honest, its been one of my better investments for the cabin. I don't go a day without a shower and this just works.

1gal really isn't roughing it. The only difference is your not wasting water while you soap up. We do the same in our camper van as we have limited water supply. But I'm always clean and I do manage to get dirty during the day.

That Zodi extreme thing looks like it could be very useful. Expensive yes, but very convenient.

You won’t regret it but you could buy a large stainless yard sprayer and make one. Probably cheaper

Even when we used a zodi pump, 5gal bucket (prob with 4gal in it) we still turned off between soap ups and it's just hardly enough.

I also bought a second USB shower pump that is more powerful and clamps to the side of the bucket, so you don't have to reach in the water to turn it on or off. It also doubles as a portable pump of sorts. This thing is so useful in a cabin situation — and less than $50:

Does anyone know if Zodi is even still in business? I can’t seem to place an order through their website, reach anyone on the phone and the extreme AC is sold out everywhere online except for this Opticsandammo.com website, from which I placed an order on 6/29 and have yet to hear a thing back from.

Well that would be disappointing. I emailed them yesterday as I’m looking for a part and no reply yet. Possibly Covid related temp shutdown?

I've been attempting to contact Zodi for a part for over 6 months. Left messages on voicemail, emailed, posted on their Facebook page and cannot get a response. I don't think that it is Covid related.

That is disappointing. Their extreme SC shower looks like it would be a really good cabin product.

We've been using a big gatorade cooler upstairs, with a drain hose fit into the bottom. We fill the cooler with hot water from the stove, and mix with cold to get desired temp. Then head down to shower, where we have a temporary shower head and valve connected to the cooler upstairs. With gravity feed we get about a 7 minute shower.
I really like the DC pump idea though, as we could stick the cooler with lid removed right in the shower with us, collect the run-off and recycle that water for longer showers. If positioned to block the drain, then the shower water could be released in big batches to maybe prevent freeze-up we experienced in really cold temps last winter.
I've got a small DC water pump (DC12V-Solar-Brushless-Submersible-Water-Pump-5M-1000L-H-Fish-Pond-JT550-TE485-LJ) for other purposes, but wonder if it might work? I've tested it with my 18V power tool batteries, and it really shoots the water. Using power tool batteries would be handy as well.

Infiltrator makes a 1765 gallon tank you can bury 4" deep and you can drain completely. They also claim you can backfill with native soil - I can attest after 2 installs in very rocky Montana soil -- they are tough tanks.
