Another trip in. With spring road bans on, and a snow-filled driveway, deliveries are not an option currently. So, spent nearly all day Saturday driving to home center, buying some drywall and a lift, renting a truck, loading it, buying a used temporary couch, hauling it back to the cabin, unloading, returning truck, driving back. Then hauling drywall and couch down the snowy driveway into the cabin.
Sunday, assembled the drywall lift and moved things around inside the cabin to make room. Was able to get the first sheet of drywall hung on the ceiling, but then we had to wrap up.
Somewhat slow progress this weekend, but progress nonetheless! Next time up we'll be able to keep working on ceiling drywall in the bedroom, and looks likely a lot of the snow will be melted.

Nice. I am about to the hauling stage myself. We were up at the borrowed cabin again this weekend. Felt like it must have been 45-50F which was amazing. Got my floor and front deck shoveled off, and got my place plowed out again. Hoping to time it right to get my last two loads of lumber in there before things get soft for spring. Two 6000lb trailer loads. Really hoping I don't have to take it in a truck bed at a time!
Sounds like youre about a month ahead of me weather wise. Still have 3-4 ft to melt here...

Nate R to bad i didn't know or i could have offered my truck and trailer.
I've been debating putting furniture in ahead of doing the walls/ceiling in fear of getting them all messed up. But i think i'll have to since i want to sell the camper the second i can get it out of the driveway.
I'm waiting on the BI to answer a couple questions so i can finish things up before first inspection.

Yeah, the furniture thing has been a debate. We're trying to minimize what we bring inside until the drywall is in, but I'm losing that battle a bit. 
Heh, I think sometimes they delay answering because they don't know..... At this stage, might be better off to meet the inspector and see what they say. Likely you'd get a list "Fix X Y and Z, and then you're good to continue insulating" or something like that....

Nate- Regarding that big 9X6 window... Where did you get it and about how much did it cost, if I can ask. Also, is the frame vinyl or aluminum?
Cabin 2.0 will have a nice lake view, and that window would be perfect for what I have in mind.

Cowracer: It's a Marvin, from their "Essential" series.....all fiberglass, not vinyl or aluminum. Wife wanted black windows. So it came from a local Marvin dealer. I like that the frames are thin, don't take up much of the view. Some vinyl frames are WAY too thick and you lose a lot of glass area.
It's 3 double hung windows mulled together as one assembly. I removed the sashes to put the frame in place, and reinstalled them as soon as I had it secured to the wall. (It's heavy!). But that made it easy for 2 people to do then.
Price? I belive Marvin has put through 2 price increases since I ordered in 2020, so it's probably 10-20% more now.
I paid extra for Low E1 glass (vs Low E2), and extra to have the bottom panes tempered. (Concerns about our dogs lunging at the window!)... and I paid for pre-made/preinstalled jamb extensions.
The extra glass charge was about $150, and the jamb extensions were another $220, for a total at the time of $1940.
It's been a great size so far for our forest view from the couch.... I'd probably choose the same size again if I were to do it over.

Heh, I need to update here, I've fallen behind a bit. Been "resting" more this year, to try and recover a bit from the huge amount of work on the cabin and house the last couple years. Also started a new position at my company in April that's kept me busier.... Haven't spent any long stretches at the cabin doing work, but getting things done about every other weekend.
Since March update:
Finished installing drywall on the bedroom ceiling and started on the bedroom walls.
Got rid of a bunch of construction debris and garbage.
Installed a ceiling fan on our porch outside.
Installed range hood fan in the wall.
Some various electrical work to get a few things working.
Put up a metal structure to be our firewood shed and outdoor shower area.
Prepped and finished some old barn beams we had (about 6x6 size), and installed blocking support and then the beams in the bedroom.
Got materials for and installed a roof structure ("portico") over our entry door.
Removed our broken and crappy foundation insulation covering and the old insulation. Installed new, prefinished foundation insulation around the slab.
Got exterior trim delivered, and started painting the band board/belly board last weekend. Forgot my saw blades for that material, so it will get installed this weekend.
Plans for this year yet: My wife has asked we get kitchen cabinets installed before deer season. So I'll drywall in the "kitchen" area this fall and get cabinets ordered/installed. (Ordering them this month!)
We put a down payment on a soapstone slab for countertops, but I don't think we'll have that part in before deer season...might be a temporary plywood counter in November.
I'll continue work on exterior trim boards, but not sure if I'll get the siding on this year yet or not.
Once it's too cold to work on the outside, I'll continue drywall work inside this winter.
So that's what I've been up to, slower but steady progress.... I'll put a post together with pics soon.

So plans changed this Fall!
RIGHT after we ordered cabinets and countertop, my insurer let me know I HAD to finish the exterior before renewal or they would not renew, which is in November.
So, switched gears, and working on the exterior.
Manor color vinyl siding on the field, and Manor color shingle look vinyl on the gables. Boral TruExterior trim boards. (These are fantastic...made from plastic and coal ash, they don't rot, are rated for ground contact, and hold any color paint!) Cedar 5/4 trim in the covered porch, and I have yet to add cedar bevel lap siding on the porch walls.
I'll have to post more pics of other work we got done when I get more time later this Fall when the exterior is done.
Don't mind the brown on the roof, that's this fall's pine needle drop.

Labor intensive, but the wife and I got the cedar siding up this weekend. ;D
Next weekend, have a little triangle to tackle, and a few other details, but the exterior should be complete! Whew, a lot of work!

Sure thing! The siding came from Menards. I believe the normal lap siding in the Manor color is a normally stocked color, so j channel, corner posts, etc are there as well.

The upper siding on the gables is the same color, but you have to special order.

Been a while since I updated here.....so lets get caught up!
2023: Made less trips up than the previous few years. Which was fine. Got pretty tired by the fall.... been a bit of a slog along with a constant parade of main home projects from 2019-2021.
2017-19 I was in school full time as well as working full time. Then 2019-2021 a ton of work on our main home, 2021-2023 a ton of work on the cabin. So we've backed off a bit, will go up less frequently this year. I hoped to be done by now, but a ways to go. We'll keep chipping away at it.
2023 progress:
First finished installing all the ceiling foam. I put 3/4" Foam UNDER the truss bottoms as a thermal break, and more insulation value. Taped all the seams and sealed around electric boxes.
Got 2 old 6x6ish barn beams installed in the bedroom ceiling/walls.
Got all the drywall installed. Got rid of leftover building materials, scraps, insulation, etc.
Worked on mudding and taping the drywall, but going slowly at that, unfortunately.
Installed cabinets inside. Added more in a corner for a "bar" area.
Got soapstone countertops installed.
Oiled the exterior cedar siding portions.
Installed maybe 3/4 of the electrical items. Lights, switches, outlets, fans, etc.
PURCHASED the flooring, but not installed. It's stored under the bed, for now.
Got a new hunting blind stand started for my wife on our family's 40 acre plot down the road from the cabin. We'll likely enclose and roof it this year.
Got DSL (phone line) internet installed in the fall. Starlink was not an option unless I removed more trees plus it's expensive. No 5G cell co offering in range. 4G available MAYBE from T-Mobile, but with data caps and an external antenna.
DSL gets me about 9 mbps download, 0.6-0.7 upload. JUST enough to work from the cabin occasionally, and more importantly be able to make and receive calls in the cabin. Used to have to walk out to the road to get enough signal to call or text. And now I can keep tabs on things when I'm not there with a still photo camera and weather station.
Great deer hunt season in 2023 for my wife and I! I got my biggest buck ever 10-15 minutes in on opening day! My wife got a deer within the following 45 minutes.... and then another deer for her the next day after sitting for 10 minutes. Amazing. So 3 deer hanging at the cabin this year.
Side note/somewhat related: got my ham radio license late in 2023. Had a tech license in 2005, but let it lapse. Playing on HF now, digital modes. Planning on installing some remote equipment at the cabin eventually.... and maybe a big ol wire loop antenna in 2025.
Given I'm nearly 4 years in from the start of framing (with plenty of breaks between...): Things I'd change so far on the build:
Used 5/8 drywall for everything....which is a choice I'm regretting. Should have used 1/2" on the walls, honestly. Just makes everything more of a pain at this point.
Should have hired out the drywall, and BEFORE furniture was in. The amount of time and effort to put it all up, and now finishing it.....is not worth it to me. Not relaxing, not fun, not satisfying enough to be worth the time/money trade off vs paying someone else.
2024 hopes/dreams/plans:
Continue drywall finishing. I've made some mistakes I have to fix, too.
If we can get that done, and painting, then the flooring install.
Start on the trim, which will be a real task around windows and doors.
Some more electrical items will be installed/finalized.
Trench 120V power to our shed. (Has solar and 12V battery now.) This will allow the outhouse fan and shed to have power all the time.... which means power for motorcycle trickle chargers, more reliable power for the camera, and ham radio stuff can be powered and live there (vs my RF noisy home location in the city.)
Phew, that's my updates for now. I'll update costs, etc more later...and keep updated through the year this time.
