The cabin is powered with two 175 watt solar panels and a bank of 5 110 amp hr rv batteries. This is a pic in front of the cabin

This was completely build with hand tools except for the occasional use of a jig saw.

Very nice! Looks like quality workmanship. Can I ask what you have used for your heat shield behind the fireplace and how you fastened it? I will be installing a fireplace in my bunkie this spring and am looking for ideas.

The heat shield is 1/8 inch sheet metal and we used copper plumbing couplers behind the shear metal to keep it rained off the wall

Here is a good pic of the recycled solid oak hardwood floor we glued down. I used a reciprocate saw to cut the staples out of the floor then glued it down. Cost us 100 for the used floor and 150 for a pail of hardwood glue

Very nice work. Where did you buy your T&G pine wall paneling? We're in NS too (near Sheet Harbour) and I've been trying to find a good source for pine.

Hi davestreck... MRS Mikester here! I've been following the progress of your cabin for a couple years, love what you're doing up the shore! Your cedar shingles are an inspiration, we hope to do the exterior on ours this year.

Love seeing Nova Scotians here! Hubby's family cabin is outside Caledonia and I'm hoping planning to build on the north shore! Great job MrMikester!!

All very nice. I especially like how your kitchen cabinets are off the floor. Are they custom or bought that way?

Custom cabinets. My wife built them out of an old bathroom vanity and used IKEA legs and a cheap ikea sink. We used a nice piece of plywood for the counter top.

Awesomeness! I love the kitchen, especially, and the way you have created beautiful simplicity using and reusing different materials! I love Habitat for Humanity ReStores for great finds to reuse!
