That's right!! You all helped....after years of trolling, reading ideas and lessons learned. I pulled the trigger and started my own project last October. It has taken a little over a year to get to this point.

I purchased 12 acres of land from family. It wasn't the "perfect" piece of land but the price and terms were good. We immediately went to work cutting in a road and burning off residual debris. We did as recommended and camped on the property every weekend for a couple of months rain, snow and shine before we decided on the spot for the cabin. i highly recommend anyone starting do the same. My first couple of ideas for locations did not work out and i would not have known this if it wasn't for camping on the property.

Because of associated cost and other issues I decided to start with a 12x32 shed and have it delivered. It took a bit of time to get it set and leveled but the delivery guy was patient and helped out with a lot of my leveling labor.

Once it was set I went about cutting in windows and framing interior walls. Then the weather set in and i battled -19 degree temperatures. With no heat. The process was very slow for about 3 months. During that time i installed the insulation and some drywall. In the spring i was able to get a wood stove in and make it more comfortable. Then i put in the pine T&G up and started trim. In the summer things went much faster....If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. I made several mistakes that I'm willing to share.

I will be posting alot of pictures because i was able to figure many things out using your pictures for ideas and problems.

Thank you for all your help!

I had to cantilever it to get some floor space....i like the way it turned out but i have to keep the fires small or run a fan to get the heat out of the pocket.

Steve S.....i soooo stole the idea from this site. I researched and found pics to copy it. I actually laid it out on the living room floor and built it out next to the IPAD with this site up.

Tiny acres...its a Graceland shed. Its the largest size i could get here in NM because of DOT regulations. Its full sized walls, double top plate and all hurricane hardware. Built just like a house with 2x6 rafters.

Very nice. My question is how in the world were you able to keep yourself under wraps for so long before "coming out" to the forum. That, to me, shows a lot of self-control.

PS: Love your location "The land of entrapment". One can only guess....
Thanks for my laugh of the day

Guys..i wanted to be able to show beginning to end the project and be available to answer questions about the things i did. Both the good and the bad. The mistakes that i made along the way.

Having a cabin of my own was a life long dream. I would spend hours looking over the internet researching. I must have had a 3" binder of ideas, thoughts and solutions. I would mentally live in the cabin each night to figure out how best to layout everything from cabinets to plumbing.

I have hundreds of pictures so that if anyone had a problem or was trying to figure out how to do something i could help out.

So if anyone has questions or wants pictures posted let me know....Ill share because you all did!!!

In my years on the forum I have not seen as fine of loft ladders as you have ,space saving ,lite weight ,sturdy, reasonable price ,who would have thought ,the essence of the small cabin forum, you listen well" grasshopper " !!

lol..thanks, i tried to be redundant in my use of things. I needed an extension ladder to work on the exterior so i purchased one. When i was done with the outside, I separated the two halves and used each half for a loft ladder. In the spring and fall when i need the extension ladders for cleaning the chimney its there, hidden in plane sight. I got the ladder at home depot when they had the Christmas sale. i think it was 30 bucks at the most.

Awesome job on the cabin. I have a question regarding your shower and pump. Looks like the exact setup I'm going for: shurflo pump 3 gallon/min and the eccotemp L12.... Do you get enough pressure/water for a decent shower? I ran the pump all this summer on cold water and was afraid when I split the line for hot and cold I would not have enough water or pressure. Thanks and nice place you have.

Morock.... I do have enough pressure....i have a short run to the shower of about 12 feet. But i can only support one fixture at a time. The sinks are plumbed just like any modern home. The shower is as well but instead of a traditional faucet i went with the MASH style pull chain low flow shower head directly above instead of a wall mount. With three women in the cabin i wanted to make it a "down and dirty" shower. Since i haul water in i cant afford to have them take all day with it.
