Well the season is about over (108 degrees at 9am!)
But I finished tiling our indoor shower! Wife picked the materials and design, I just the workin' man.... it'll be nice next year though to not have to run outside for every shower, particularly when it's cold out!
Check out the moonrise...

Great house, I've always liked this design. I don't think I could ever live in the desert but I do love the scenery.

Well, people either love it or hate it when they come to visit! Some people run screaming, too desolate, too quiet...but we love it. Except that we can't go out there during 3-4 months of the year.....
But that makes it all the more joyful when we do get back, eh??

2015 season:
Mainly started the screen porch structure last spring before it got too hot,, the rest of the year was spent on maintenance and some little projects like building a saloon moving our firepit area, and making trails. Just starting now to head back out it has been hot. This will be the year of the screen porch/observation deck and solar, God willing and the creek don't rise ....

Do you ever have a creek?

Nice place.

I've been quietly following your build since I first saw the name! Just curious, do you get alot of off roaders in your area? You and I share similar views at my home in the valley. Beautiful sunrises and amazing sunsets! You are right tho, it's not for everyone. Initially I was thinking Colorado, until I saw the Southwest Desert. That was over 40 years ago and I'm still here.

Your place has turned out beautiful! I'm sure there's more projects ahead, so keep us posted, me I never tire of the desert views!

No not in our direct area,, it is private property and highly protected (by us there are many Jeep trails in the vicinity and an off-roader's paradise about an hour away, but we are into the quiet.....

By the looks of it, you've got plenty of that. It's nice to listen to nothing! But it never is really quiet is it? Coyotes, occasional owl and I have a pair of Hawks that hunt my area often. One was on my antenna just above me, communicating with its mate. I just sat there in awe.

It is sooo quiet, one of the attractions (but some people can't handle it) The animals/birds we get are Turkey Buzzards, Coyotes, Mountain Lions, Bighorn Sheep, Ravens (but not crows), Hawks, Eagles, Owls and the usual little critters....

Upndown, where is your place, is it desert?

Yes it's desert. I'm in the county north of Phoenix, east of Lake Pleasant and the Ben Avery shooting range. My cabin is about an 1 1/2 hr drive NW. Right at 5,000 ft. Juniper and pinyon, ponderosa pines a little further up the mountain. Best of both worlds!

So you're high desert, we have some of that around us too. Look up Anza Borrego State Park, we're right in the south middle...

Just read a trip report on another forum. Guy went to Borregofest, showed himself driving thru the Squeeze, and the sculpture tour. Looks like a great place to go exploring! Some wide open spaces.
