Well, I got the door in today and finished the cornors up. I used steal siding that I had and is different colors but did the job. The windows are 58 x 43 and the smaller are 38 x 45. Can't see the roof but it is all green. Someday I will go to the top and take a picture looking down. Like I said it is nothing compared to all your great cabins but I am very excited to have a place to spend a night or a place I can just go and take in the landscape. I did all the work myself but did have one day when I had someone help me pack in some plywood and headers. Man I packed the windows in by myself and that was a job. I spent a total of 6 days 8 hour days. I think 1/3 of the time I was packing stuff in. I'm glad I have it where it can rain and snow all it wants now.

Neb, glad you got the camp in the dry. Looks like a nice place to spend the night on a hunting trip . You will have some good times up there. I love your view it's awesome......you putting a woodburner in there????
I like metal on the sides as well, i built my big barn over 10 years ago, metal roof and sides and vinyl windows and PT trim, it's maint. free!!!!!!
I might drop by and see your cabin this fall, i put in for SD, deer ML and Fall turkey on the reservation. So if i get picked, might be headed back your way come fall.

You do that and I hope you get those tags. Yep it has been a busy time for me and I'm very glad to have it up.
I'm not sure what I will do yet for heat. I do have a small pot belly stove. I will look in to one of those propane heaters.
I am looking forward to the hunting season now. When do you go to Maine and will you be done with your cabin before you go?

Thanks and like I said not fancy but a place to stop and watch the grass grow. I would call it more a line shack and bank robber hideout in the old days.

It is about 130 to 140 yards of packing in material up hill and winding trail. It is hidden fron down below and can't see the hideout till you are about 20 yards from the shack. It is hard to see but there is a cedar tree on the west side the direction you have to come from to get there and it hides it very well.

Neb - I know what it is like to build a cabibn by yourself. I built a shed 12 x 16 a couple of years ago with a storage loft. Took me all summer and darn near killed me - fun though. Great job - lots of lugging. You will really enjoy it. Happy times!

That is all anyone needs. Keep a body dry and warm. We always say "Better than the tent!!!" as we watch the rain pour down from our micro bunkie. All the rest are just creature comforts that add to upkeep and logistics and the $$$$.
The key is that you sound like you are really enjoying your place. And that is all that matters.
